I would hope that every jurisdiction would follow this. Fans just cannot be expected to have this stuff take place. It is totally unacceptable in my book.

Sometimes the amounts of money wagered and the timing of those wagers results in dramatic odds changes. The information on those odds changes often isn't fully available until after the gates open.
It really is unfair to the public IMO. At least with two minutes, some fans will have a chance to adjust their plays.

Yes. It does. And while they have every right to be able to bet that money, the other 80% of the handle should have more consideration than the CAW’s IMO.

I do know one player for sure and probably more that are a big part of the CAW scene. While the CAW betting has added to a takeout kind of, without them, at least 1/2 of that money and probably more would be wagered anyway by a small group of individual players. That’s what happened back in the day when the high rolling sharps bet individually.
So it’s not all gloom and doom. And I thought about if this was the rule in Florida, 2 minutes to post is really more like 8 minutes to post because they are purposely late to make sure they get every drop of handle.
I personally find that as bush league and if I was a horseman there with any pull, I would be screaming about it. It’s amateurish. I wouldn’t bet a nickel at that place.

Have to admit, the track owners being affiliated with the CAW’s is a little slimy. These people with mega bucks have no shame when it comes to trying to accumulate more money.
I think it’s a sickness. I mean, cmon man, help out other people. I think it’s gross.

THX STR for your takes. Yeah I was surprised to see that NYRA and CDI are affiliated with these groups.

                    Real Savvy Post-Race Follow-Up

Real Savvy exited his race the other day in pretty good order. It should be noted that in his post-race scope his arytenoid cartilage was about 80% abducted. This is not uncommon for horses with tie-backs—that procedure rarely gets them to 100%, but it is certainly an improvement compared to where he was before the surgery and so far the sutures appear to be holding. It’s just something we’ll have to keep in mind and monitor moving forward. We’ll see how he trains coming out of this race and likely look for a next start when they’re back downstate.
                     and ugh
                    Black Tie Optional Update

Black Tie Optional has not been moving to assistant trainer Mike Marlow’s liking behind at Los Alamitos since receiving a week off from breezing last week. There’s nothing pathological showing, which has lead us to set up a nuclear scan. A nuclear scan, also known as a bone scan, is used to detect and diagnose various bone and soft-tissue problems.

A scan is scheduled to take place tomorrow, which will give us a clear image of what we are dealing with. We should receive the results later in the week and will follow up as soon as we get them.

                        Q. Black Tie Optional has not been moving to assistant trainer Mike Marlow’s liking behind at Los Alamitos since receiving a week off from breezing last week. A. To be honest , I’ve been kind of waiting for something to possibly show up.
Why? Because this horse is thick and weighty as well as talented. So that equals weight, speed, stamina, and reach and with all that usually comes a form of muscle or Bone/body over exertion.
He is off somewhere behind. Honestly Batt, that beats the heck out of off up front. But if not remedied he will shift his weight and throw it up front and that will cause stuff we do not want.

So, they are doing exactly the right thing in my opinion. They will figure out the area that is inflamed and deal with it. More often than not with hind ends and muscle , backing off of work outs and jogging even 2 miles a day, is often the prescribed treatment as well as acupuncture or tenz unit type treatment while still in lighter training.
Often times this can be either muscular irritation which can be dealt with with light exercise for a month +\- or bone bruising which depending where can be either the same program or other exercises and treatment.
This hopefully small back off can also help him up front as the front leg bones are slowly thickening by layering additional bone. All that is typical and needed as he starts to run.
This typically occurs when the horse starts getting competitive and pushes things a bit. Especially those with talent and baby fat type weight. He’s a chunkster Batt. That’s who he is.
Of course, this is just speculation on my part. So let’s see what they find. I’m anxious to hear. Please keep me informed.
                        Thanks, Batt
