#212Connor McDavid extended his point streak to 11 games with an Assist in the first period, and scored the only goal in the shootout for the Edmonton Oilers in a 4-3 road win against the Arizona Coyotes on Sunday.
These teams have played twice, splitting the wins, both games went to Overtime, with Arizona having won in Edmonton back on Nov.4
Oilers still holding first place in the Pacific Division, with the Coyotes in second place.
They play 2 more games this year on Jan.18 in Arizona, then on Feb.4 in Edmonton. It might be surprising to see them battling for the division lead, but both are solid teams thus far.
I'd say probably not dominating teams, but solid and commit to their own style of game. Looking at the Oilers on this road trip, I was worried they might mess up after losing by 5-1 score at the LA Kings on Thursday, and then going to Vegas for a Saturday game. They must have stayed disciplined and focused because they beat Vegas 4-2. Then on Sunday, went to Phoenix with both teams on a back-to-back, and won 4-3 via shootout decision. Pretty good job. Oilers next go to Colorado on Wednesday before returning home.Comment -

#217Flames coach Peters probed over racial slur claim: NHL
Los Angeles (AFP) - Calgary Flames coach Bill Peters is under investigation after being accused of using racial slurs against Nigerian-born player Akim Aliu a decade ago, the National Hockey League confirmed on Tuesday.
The NHL said in a statement Peters was being probed after Aliu said he was subjected to racist language during the 2009-2010 season while playing for American Hockey League (AHL) side Rockford IceHogs.
"The behavior that has been alleged is repugnant and unacceptable," the NHL said in a statement. "We will have no further comment until we have had an opportunity to look into the matter more thoroughly."
The Flames also confirmed they were investigating the allegations.
"We take these matters very seriously," Flames general manager Brad Treliving said in a statement. "We want to complete a full and proper investigation before we provide any further comments on the matter."
Aliu was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2007 and later spent time with the IceHogs, the Blackhawks' AHL affiliate where Peters was the head coach.
In social media posts on Monday, Aliu said Peters "dropped the N bomb several times towards me in the dressing room in my rookie year because he didn't like my choice of music."
Aliu, who moved to Canada at the age of seven, later said he was demoted after he "rebelled" against the use of the racist language towards him.
Aliu currently plays for Orlando in the East Coast Hockey League.
Aliu's tweet was in response to criticism of the management style of former Toronto coach Mike Babcock, who was sacked last week. Peters was Babcock's assistant at the Detroit Red Wings between 2011 and 2014.Comment -

#218There are also reports now surfacing that while Bill Peters was the coach of the Carolina Hurricanes (going back a couple years, before he came to Calgary, which by the way he is a native of Alberta originally, grew up on a farm/ranch... Calgary area is kind of a cowboy lifestyle) that he physically abused some players....probably means would hit or slap younger players in practice....details not completely known, speculation on my part.

#224LA Kings goalie Jonathan Quick is 5-1-1 in his past 7 starts, all at home (Campbell started the one road game at Arizona during this stretch in the Kings schedule)
Wins over Islanders, Oilers, Golden Knights, Red Wings, Wild
of course before that, he lost 5 games in a row
Kings were motivated to play better during the homestand
They head up to San Jose for Friday, then back home Saturday to host Winnipeg
Kings then will start a brutal road schedule on Dec.6 thru Dec.28 in which they'll play 10 of 12 games on the road, including 5 games in a row on the East CoastComment -

maybe they need to be home to be motivated? of course they're not very good to begin with
Kings will probably pull off a couple of surprise wins in December on the road, but for the most part should be getting their tails kicked most of the month with 10 of 12 games on the roadComment -

Ron Francis released a brief statement regarding the accusations from the seasons Bill Peters was head coach for Carolina:
"When I was General Manager in Carolina, after a game, a group of Players and Hockey Staff members made me aware of the physical incidents involving two Players and Bill Peters. I took this matter very seriously.
I took immediate action to address the matter and briefed ownership.
To my knowledge, no further such incidents occurred.
It would have been inappropriate for me to comment publicly while an active investigation was being conducted by another team. I will not comment on this matter further."Comment -
