Petey smith leaving alabama to transfer to Holmes Mississippi community college.

I was thinking this kid would be a big factor in Bama football when we signed him.

I guess we could use the room on the roster.

BD, I was a little taken aback at how anxious you were to attack these early lines until I read the last paragraph. Let's face it, many of the coaches don't even know what they have yet. New systems, new players, blah blah....lots of question marks. I'm one of those guys that believe in being conservative in week 1. I'm guessing that your strategies would have as much to do with opening week wagering tendencies as anything else, not to say that you can't find a soft one here and there. I agree that things can get a little tougher as the season progresses in some respects with more variables and of course the main reason....sharper lines. Opportunities are there though, you just have to stay on your game.

Nothing wrong with a little trip to Vegas with the boys though. Have fun, I look forward to the report.

Good luck BD.....sounds like fun to me.

        ALABAMA
A third Alabama football player announced his intention to transfer this offseason. Backup linebacker Petey Smith is leaving Tuscaloosa bound for Holmes Community College in Mississippi. Smith told the Mobile Press that he though he "wasn't giving it my all," and was better off transferring as a opposed to working his way up a talented depth chart. Smith never appeared in a game with the Tide since the highly regarded prospect redshirted his first season at Alabama in 2010. A 2009 Under Armour All-American, the Tampa native was rated as high as the No. 5 inside linebacker in the nation by ESPN. He is the third Alabama player to transfer since the season ended New Year's Day, joining defensive back B.J. Scott (South Alabama) and running back Demetrius Goode (North Alabama). Smith was a good prospect, but Alabama probably has the best set of two-deep linebackers in the country.

Mre bad news for Tennessee. Starting LB Herman Lathers broke his ankle in a 7 on 7 scrimmage and will miss part, if not all of the season. HC Dooley was not specific as to how much time he would miss, but said he would miss the "first few games". Tennessee hosts Cincinnati in game 2, and goes to Florida for game 3 of their season. This just add more problems to what has been a rather stressful spring and summer for the Vols.

            TENNESSEE
Herman Lathers started 12 games in 2010 and is the leading returning tackler for the Volunteers. He will undergo surgery in the next few days and likely not be available for the first few games. To make matters worse, Lathers likely replacement, Greg King, had surgery Friday to repair a torn meniscus, but is expected to be ready in time for fall camp.

It just gets worse and worse for Tennessee. Now, aparently Mike Hamilton has, or will resign as the A.D. Dooley must be sweating bullets, because he was Hamilton's hire. Just what he needs. More pressure to win, and win now.

Dib, best thing for Ohio State. The University needs to drop the other four players and put as many distractions as possible behind them. No one need be fooled, the Buckeyes have some talented players and now is the time to start all over and start building some team unity.

Absolutely. this just makes things worse in the eyes of the NCAA if Ohio State does not get rid of every player involved in the series of scandals that has beset this team. Tressel and Pryor leaving spells "guilt by association" to the NCAA. That may not be legitimate proof in a Court of Law, but it is plenty of proof for the NCAA. Ohio State has to come clean, and the best way to do that is to rid themselves of everyone who could possibly be connented, including A.D. Smith.

                      TOP INCOMING SEC RECRUITS
When capping SEC games this season, you might want to consider the following players. Many will make key contributions to their teams.

Cyrus Kouandjio, 6-7, 322, Alabama, OT
                      La'El Collins, 6-5, 285, LSU, OT
                      Hasean Clinton-Dix, 6-2, 190, Alabama, S
Ray Drew, 6-5, 245, Georgia, DE
Anthony Johnson, 6-4, 300, LSU, DT

Kris Frost, 6-3, 210, Auburn, LB
                      C.J. Johnson, 6-3, 235, Ole Miss, LB
Isaish Crowell, 5-11, 210, Georgia, RB
Christian Westerman, 6-5, 290, Auburn, OT
Malcolm Mitchell, 6-1, 188, Georgia, CB
Jeff Driskel, 6-3, 225, Florida, QB
Marcus Roberson, 6-1, 170, Florida, CB
                      Brent Calloway, 6-1, 212, Alabama, RB-LB
Mike Blakely, 5-9, 195, Florida, RB
Jeoffery Pagan, 6-4, 275, Alabama, DE
Jesse Williams, 6-4, 335, Alabama, DT
Odell Beckham, 5-10, 165, LSU, WR

Many of these players will play key roles this season in the SEC. The best of the best.

Agreed. ESPN also mentioned how some of the players were upset with TP since they felt like he is responsible for Sweater-vest's departure. That would have been a locker room disaster when TP returned from his suspension.

                        Enjoy Canada, TP.

I don't care what the opening line is, take the Huskers at any point spread in Columbus. Don't think the Huskers haven't already circled this game with their addition to the Slow 10.

Pelini going home to Ohio is motivation enough for him.

Although it is the off-season, I enjoy this place much more now than in the fall. Too many morons with their "locks" clog up the board. Good discussion with our small group.

That is all fine and good except for the small fact that the game is in Lincoln, NOT Columbus. Check your facts before posting.

I plan on running my own thread after 4 years of winning (between 52 and 57 percent... Enough to get the kids a nice Christmas).

What's your background? I'm an SEC grad in Big 12 territory that travels all over the country. Have 3 weekends in LV planned this fall from the Bellagio to Mandalay.

Good luck this year. Look forward to trading notes.
Good luck, but 52% is NOT winning. You have to hit over 53%. Looking forward to your thread.

I've lost my share and won my share.

At times sports gaming has been difficult and if I can help the young ones understand its not all fun and games...makes me happy.

Okay so now ESPN is saying a former friend of TP witnessed him sell his autograph for cash, estimated around $40k total. Said this occurred 3-4 times a week. Never going to end with this guy..

I do not like Okra, nor does she, but occasinally, we eat grits. My wife is a rather talented cook, and is always coming up with new recepies. I am a 1st generation full blooded Siciliano, so we eat a lot of Italian food. She makes a lot of Southern dishes also, complete with Butter Beans and Black Eye Peas. I have not missed many meals in my life.
