Another set of four matches graces our living rooms, and my World Cup predictions today spotlight a pick from three.

I like Uruguay to beat Cabo Verde and Belgium to secure the win against Iran, but I've had to add a second leg on both bets to make the odds somewhat palatable. No team in Groups G and H started their tournament with a win, with four draws setting the stage for an intriguing second round of fixtures.

My third bet features the aging wizard Mo Salah, who came close to picking up what would have been a game-winner against Belgium in the opener. The analysis below is part of our World Cup predictions

💰 Best World Cup prediction today

Uruguay win & Cabo Verde not to score (-108)

Cabo Verde employed their bend-but-don't-break philosophy expertly in its opening game, stealing a point against Spain. While I don't expect Uruguay to have their way with the newcomers, they should have enough to secure all three points.

Uruguay are in a must-win scenario, which changes the complexion. It may take a while, but that desperation will bear fruit.

Cabo Verde will again try to absorb the pressure against the 18th-ranked team in the world, but the result will be slightly different this time around. I'm expecting Uruguay to win 2-0, maybe 3-0 in a comfortable, yet competitive affair.

💵 SBR Edge: Uruguay are defensively sound and desperate

Uruguay tied three of their previous four, and they're due for a win. They kept a clean sheet in six of their previous 10 matches, and they shouldn't have too many issues keeping the 63rd-ranked nation at bay.

Belgium ML & Under 4.5 goals (-140) vs. Iran

Iran looked susceptible defensively against New Zealand, allowing two goals and several more quality chances. Belgium should capitalize on that slack defending, especially with Romelu Lukaku expected to start for the first time this tournament.

Iran scored two goals against New Zealand, but they'll find it much more challenging to create chances against a superior defensive team.

Belgium is ranked 10th in the world, and Iran is 22nd. Both teams are ranked too high in my opinion, but Belgium will just about win in an underwhelming, fairly low-scoring match.

Mo Salah anytime goal  (+130) vs. New Zealand

I considered a few things before pulling the trigger on this bet. While Salah didn't have his best game against Belgium, he came within a whisker of scoring and would have had it not been for a superb save by Thibaut Courtois on his downward, goal-bound header.

He's facing a New Zealand defense he should be able to create chances against. While exciting to watch, New Zealand's defense is by no means airtight.

Salah scored four goals in six Africa Cup of Nations matches and has two goals in three World Cup tilts.
