In the fourth and final match of World Cup play today, Iran takes on New Zealand at 9 p.m. ET (FS1, Telemundo, Peacock) from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.

As part of my World Cup predictions, my best Iran vs. New Zealand prediction is looking at Iran (-105) as a more trustworthy play than New Zealand (+340), despite New Zealand posting respectable results in most of their recent matches.

⚽ Who will win Iran vs. New Zealand?

New Zealand is the worst-ranked team at this year's World Cup, despite winning their last five World Cup qualifying matches 29-1. However, Iran will be the toughest team New Zealand has faced in a competitive match in a very long time, as they've recorded three consecutive shutouts and allowed zero goals in six of their last seven games.

The real question is whether Iran will score, and if so, how often? This is a team that has failed to score in three of its last six matches. However, the Iranians have scored in 11 of their last 13 competitive games.

Score prediction: Iran 2, New Zealand 1

💵 My best bet: Iran Over 1.5 goals (+123)

New Zealand conceded just one goal to England in their final tune-up before the World Cup. However, England didn't play any key players in the second half, so the final score doesn't mean much.

New Zealand has allowed multiple goals in four of their last six matches, including four against Haiti in early June. Meanwhile, Iran has scored multiple goals in five of their last six competitive games.

Mehdi Taremi, F, Iran (+210)

Taremi has scored four goals in four appearances with Iran this year. All of those contests were Friendlies, but Taremi was very impressive during World Cup qualifying as well. He scored five goals in both the second and third rounds of AFC World Cup qualifying, leading all players in the third round. New Zealand's defense is largely unproven, so I'll back a talented scorer who has had success against far better opposition than he'll face tonight.

Best Iran vs. New Zealand goal-scorer pick: Mehdi Taremi (+210 via FanDuel)

🥅 Will both teams score in Iran vs. New Zealand?

Iran will definitely score in this match, so it really comes down to whether or not New Zealand can decipher the Iranian defense. New Zealand has been shut out in four of their last five matches, but Iran allowed a lot of goals during World Cup qualifying. In fact, in three of their last eight competitive games, Iran has allowed at least two goals.

Both teams to score (BTTS) pick: Yes (+110 via DraftKings)
