Euro 2024 Power Rankings: One of Four Semifinalists the Clear Front-Runner

As we enter the semifinals, let's dive into the Euro 2024 power rankings based on the odds from our best soccer betting sites.

Four of the top 10 teams in world football will play for a chance to qualify for the Euro 2024 final, held on Sunday, July 14. Spain are the Euro 2024 odds favorites heading into the semifinals, while England and France are in hot pursuit. 

The Netherlands have the longest odds of the remaining quartet, and they play England in Wednesday's second semifinal. Tuesday's semifinal features Spain and France from Munich Football Arena (Allianz Arena).

4. Netherlands 

Prior ranking: 5

Two of Holland's three wins were of the come-from-behind variety. They went down early to Turkey in the quarterfinals but showed character and poise in the second half, scoring two goals in six minutes to secure a place in the semifinals. 

Oranje is the world's seventh-ranked team and has quality throughout their lineup, particularly at the back. However, their defense showed surprising vulnerability against Poland, Austria, and Turkey.

Holland has kept two clean sheets and scored at least two goals in four of five matches. After an admirable tournament under Ronald Koeman's stewardship, I expect the Netherlands to bow out in the semifinals.

 3. France 

Prior ranking: 4

Despite well-documented offensive struggles, France have scratched, clawed, and battled their way into the semifinal. Les Bleus is the first team to make a European Championship semifinal without scoring a goal from open play. 

Yet they still have an excellent chance to make their third final in the last four major tournaments. Their defense has offset the attacking inadequacies, as France have conceded only one goal in the tournament, a penalty against Poland in the Group D finale. 

I expect France's run to end against Spain on Tuesday.

2. England 

Prior ranking: 2

England are through to their third semifinal in the last four major tournaments. Despite mediocre play for extended periods, the Three Lions have prevailed, showcasing the resilience and unwillingness to lose that have characterized Gareth Southgate's tenure.

The always-under-fire head coach is a win away from guiding England to their second straight European Championship final, which I expect to come to fruition.

La Roja are the tournament's undisputed best team, at least entering their semifinal showdown against France. Spain have the most goals (11), conceding only two. They are the only team to win all five matches and enter Tuesday's semifinal with 15 straight wins in competitive matches. 

While anything can happen at this stage of a major tournament, I expect Spain to qualify for their first final since winning back-to-back European Championships in 2008 and 2012.
