The Florida Panthers are closing in on a playoff spot and take a six-game point streak into Detroit for a matchup against the slumping Red Wings on Monday. Here's sports betting analyst Scott Cullen's top NHL pick based on the best NHL odds.

A month ago, both the Panthers and Red Wings had playoff aspirations but they have veered in opposite directions since then.

The Panthers just wrapped up a seven-game homestand, going 5-1-1, climbing to within a point of the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

With just two wins in their past 11 games, the Red Wings have fallen out of playoff contention. They have 69 points in 68 games, leaving them nine points behind Pittsburgh, with little time left to make up that gap in the standings.

Here is our best Panthers vs. Red Wings NHL pick (odds via DraftKings Sportsbook; pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Panthers vs. Red Wings pick

Panthers 60-minute ML (-120 via DraftKings)

The moneyline price for the Panthers is costly, so look to the 60-minute moneyline for better value.

While Florida is an excellent puck possession team, even away from FLA Live Arena, the Panthers have managed a 14-20-3 record on the road. The major culprit for that subpar record is a .879 road save percentage, which ranks 31st.

Starting goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has a .916 save percentage in 16 starts since the All-Star break, however, getting better results with a steady workload.

Even if Florida's goaltending is suspect, the Red Wings are not likely the team to take advantage of that situation. Detroit has scored 2.14 goals per game in seven games since the All-Star break, ranking 30th.

Although the Panthers have just 14 road wins, which is why this is a three-star selection, 12 of those wins have come in regulation time. That makes the ascending Panthers on the 60-minute moneyline the value play for this game.

DraftKings and BetMGM have the best number among our best sportsbooks, at -120, but there is variance in price compared to other shops.

The rest of our top sportsbooks range between -125 and -135, so there is a clear incentive to make this wager at DK or BetMGM.

With the moneyline price at -190 or shorter at the top sportsbooks, there is also incentive to take the 60-minute moneyline to bring down the juice.
