Wild Card Weekend NFL Teaser Picks

• Six-point teaser: 49ers -4 + Bengals -0.5 (-120 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

49ers (-4 vs. Seahawks)

This will be the third Seattle Seahawks-49ers matchup of the season, and San Francisco has cruised to 27-7 and 21-13 victories in the first two. The Niners are the better team on both sides of the ball, and they also enter on a dominant 10-game winning streak. 

San Francisco ranks No. 1 in offensive and defensive DVOA during their undefeated stretch while also scoring 30.5 points per game and allowing the lowest EPA per play, according to Football Outsiders.

After facing the New York Jets and Los Angeles Rams the past two weeks, I’m viewing this as a drastic uptick in class for Seattle. The Seahawks will struggle to keep pace and put points on the board. I also value the added wiggle room below the key number of 7.

Bengals (-0.5 vs. Ravens)

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh didn't commit when asked about quarterback Lamar Jackson’s status during Monday’s press conference. It's doubtful the passer is 100% healthy.

The Bengals haven’t lost since Week 8, and they haven’t been defeated at Paycor Stadium since Week 1. A six-point teaser moves this spread down to a pick’em (-0.5). I’m also anticipating landing additional closing-line value because I expect Cincinnati to continue taking the majority of the betting action, with this spread moving further in the Bengals’ direction.

Until I see Jackson fully participate in practice or if he’s announced as the starter against the Bengals, I’m not convinced he’ll even play Sunday. Baltimore could skyrocket to a double-digit underdog if Jackson is ruled out. And even if he does play, I don’t think Jackson will be healthy enough to effectively lead the Ravens to a victory.

The uncertainty tied to Jackson is the only reason this isn't a five-star bet. However, the spread is lower than it should be based on the potential he does play.
