Seahawks vs. Patriots Prediction, Picks & Best Bets: Super Bowl 2026

While underdogs have an excellent recent record in the Big Game, I'm backing the betting favorite Seattle Seahawks to cover and win Super Bowl 60.

The New England Patriots beat the Seattle Seahawks 11 years ago to win the Big Game, but I expect the script to flip in Super Bowl 2026 as I offer my Seahawks vs. Patriots prediction.

The Seahawks are the 4.5-point betting favorite for Super Bowl 60, which kicks off from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, Feb. 8 (NBC/Peacock). As part of the Super Bowl predictions, I'm backing the Seahawks to become the first betting favorite to win and cover the spread since 2020.

The Patriots will hope recent Super Bowl underdog betting history continues on the same path, but I believe the pendulum is about to swing.

While the Patriots' defense has been superb lately, the Seahawks had the best unit in football throughout the season. The Los Angeles Rams were the only team to score more than 16 points against them in the previous eight games.

I'm also partial to the Seahawks' second-best regular-season scoring offense, which put together two monstrous playoff games, scoring 72 points.

New England, meanwhile, scored the eighth-most points per game in the regular season (27.2), and, while there's no question that inclement weather negatively impacted cohesiveness, Drake Maye and Co. have struggled in the postseason.

Score prediction: Seahawks 27, Patriots 21

🤔 Should bettors be concerned about Maye and Darnold's turnover issues?

  • Sam Darnold made the Pro Bowl despite leading all players with 20 turnovers. However, he didn't turn the ball over in either playoff game, throwing 4 TD passes and 0 interceptions. He fumbled in the NFC Championship Game, but recovered it
  • While poor weather played a massive role, Maye threw 2 interceptions and fumbled six times, losing three, in his first three playoff games
  • With idyllic weather expected, both QBs should protect the ball well. I don't think either will put the ball on the ground

💡 What is the key matchup for Seahawks vs. Patriots Super Bowl 2026?

While several key matchups will determine the Super Bowl 60 winner, I'm focusing on the Patriots' aerial attack against the Seahawks' pass defense.

Few teams had success against the Seahawks on the ground, highlighted by opponents' league-low 34% success rate on designed runs. The Patriots' chances of winning will likely hinge on Maye and how he orchestrates the passing game. He led the league's best pass offense in terms of EPA per play (0.23).

It's a lot to ask of the sophomore QB, though, especially against the Seahawks' best pass defense via DVOA. The Rams, who accomplished the feat twice, were the only offense in the previous eight games to accumulate more than 154 passing yards against Seattle.

While Maye has arguably assembled the best sophomore season in NFL history, Seattle's menacing defense represents one hurdle too many.

🙌 Best Seahawks vs. Patriots touchdown scorer prediction: Jaxon Smith-Njigba (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Outside of the two starting QBs, Smith-Njigba is the Super Bowl MVP odds betting favorite. I don't know about you, but I'm backing him to live up to the hype and take Super Bowl MVP honors.

And that means scoring at least one TD. He's been doing the business all season, scoring 10 in the regular season while punching it in once in both playoff games. And when the Super Bowl is on the line, who do you think Darnold will rely on in the red zone?

The short, minus-money odds reduce it from a 5 to a 4-star play, but I'll take the slight reduction in profit for the increased likelihood.

🌤️ Seahawks vs. Patriots weather: Sunday, Feb. 8, 6:30 p.m. ET

The initial Super Bowl weather forecast called for idyllic conditions, and that outlook hasn't changed. There is only a 3% chance of precipitation, with temperatures at a mild and comfortable 70 degrees. If the forecast doesn't change, wind will also be a non-factor, with gusts at 7 mph.

The forecast is conducive to a more efficient offensive display from both teams, which could bode well for Over bettors.
