Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice is currently serving a suspension for his role in a multi-car crash that occurred last year. The Chiefs could certainly use the talented wide receiver right about now after Xavier Worthy was injured in the team’s season opener. Fantasy football managers are also anxiously awaiting Rice’s return. Below, we will look at how long the suspension for Rice will last and at a date when Rice could be back on the field.

⏳ When will Rashee Rice return and be back with Chiefs?

Rice is eligible to return in Week 7 of the season after serving his six-game suspension. The Chiefs will play the Las Vegas Raiders at Arrowhead Stadium in Week 7.

Rice should be ready to play in that game, so fantasy football managers should pencil him in for the Oct. 19 showdown.

The 25-year-old Rice is not allowed to be present at the Chiefs’ team facilities during the first half of his suspension, per NFL rules. During the second half of the suspension, however, Rice will be allowed to appear at the facility and ramp up toward a return. It is expected that Rice will begin this “ramp-up” process on Monday, Oct. 6.

Here is a look at the Chiefs’ schedule around the time Rice is expected to return.

  • Week 7 Sunday, Oct. 19: Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs
  • Week 8 Monday, Oct. 27: Washington Commanders at Kansas City Chiefs
  • Week 9 Sunday, Nov. 2: Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills
  • Week 10: Chiefs bye week
  • Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 16: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos

🕚 How long will Rashee Rice be out for due to suspension?

The Rice suspension will last six games as the NFL determined that he violated the league’s personal conduct policy. Rice pleaded guilty to third-degree felony charges, including charges “involving serious bodily injury” and “racing on a highway causing bodily injury.” The former Southern Methodist University star was sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days in jail. It is not yet known when Rice will serve the 30 days of jail time, but it will surely take place during an NFL off-season. Rice can serve the jail time at any point during the five-year probationary period.

Rice was traveling at 119 mph in a Lamborghini Urus SUV on Dallas’ North Central Expressway on March 30, 2024. He lost control of the vehicle and hit the center median wall. This triggered a crash that involved six other vehicles.

🏈 Rashee Rice fantasy football outlook

Despite the six-game suspension, Rice was going around Round 6 in most 12-team PPR fantasy football drafts.

Rice’s talent is unquestioned, but he has played in only 0 games thus far in his NFL career. In his rookie season of 2023, Rice caught 79 balls for 938 yards and 7 TDs in 16 games. Last year, he caught 24 balls for 288 yards and 2 TDs before going down with a season-ending LCL injury.

Rice projects as WR1 in the Chiefs offense, especially with Worthy now on the shelf.

🔴 Chiefs betting odds

Per usual, the Chiefs are near the top of Super Bowl odds. Kansas City currently owns a +1000 price to once again raise the Lombardi Trophy.

The Chiefs’ win total is currently set at 10.5 wins despite an opening week loss to the LA Chargers.

Andy Reid’s crew is -235 to make the NFL playoffs and +186 to miss the playoffs.
