My best ATS picks for Week 17
Broncos (-13) vs. Chiefs ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Nothing says "Merry Christmas" like watching the Broncos beat up on the Chiefs, who are just in a terrible spot right now. Not only is Patrick Mahomes lost for the season, but as is backup quarterback Gardner Minshew. This team just lost to the lowly Titans 26-9 - it's all a new feeling for this franchise (and its fans), who have found nothing but success ever since Mahomes entered the league. With third-string quarterback Chris Oladokun leading the 6-9 offense, I expect the vaunted Broncos defense to eat him alive, and for Bo Nix to do the rest.
Sorry, Chiefs fans, you're getting a bunch of coal under the Christmas tree this year.
Chargers (-2.5) vs. Texans ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Is C.J. Stroud just a bad quarterback? I'm starting to lean that way, at least. He missed five wide-open receivers as the Texans squeaked out a victory against the worst team in the NFL in the Raiders. He'll get a tough opponent in Week 17, as the Chargers own the sixth-ranked pass defense, allowing just 179 yards per game through the air. On the other side, this Texans defense will be able to keep it close while going against the worst offensive line in the game, according to Pro Football Focus. In the end, expect Justin Herbert's unit to win by a field goal.
Eagles (+2.5) vs. Bills ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Outside of James Cook, the Bills' offense was almost non-existent against the Browns in Week 16. I still don't understand why Brandon Beane didn't go out and get some wide receiver help at the deadline, but I digress. In a game that will likely come down to one score, I'll take the points every single time. I'm looking forward to watching Jalen Hurts and Josh Allen go head-to-head on Sunday, and I'm giving Philly the benefit of the doubt against a Bills defense that can be exposed.
