My NFL Week 15 predictions highlight why the defenses are going to greatly impact the way both quarterbacks play, while also bringing attention to a spot where Hunt is being undervalued. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. ET today from GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. (CBS), with the 6-7 Chiefs favored by 5.5 points.

Justin Herbert player prop: Under 204.5 passing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

When these two teams met in Week 1, Herbert threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns. However, that performance came behind a much different offensive line. Herbert has been under constant duress in recent weeks, and he was sacked a season-high seven times in Week 14. 

Herbert’s passing totals have suffered because of this, as he’s thrown for 151 yards or fewer in three consecutive games. While he got the better of the Chiefs the first time around, their defense is allowing just 204.2 passing yards per game, which ranks 13th-best in the league. They’ve held two of their last three opponents to 203 passing yards or fewer.

Kareem Hunt player prop: Over 36.5 rushing yards (-116) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hunt struggled against the Texans last week, averaging just 2.5 yards per carry on his way to a 30-yard game. However, I’m not putting much stock in that performance when making my best Chargers vs. Chiefs player props, as the Texans rank fifth in rush defense and Hunt once again outcarried Isiah Pacheco.

Hunt has rushed for at least 40 yards in five of his last six games and averaged at least four yards per carry in five of his last seven. The Chargers are allowing 4.6 yards per carry, eighth-worst in the NFL. As long as he gets 10 carries, which he’s had in five consecutive games, he’ll hit this Over.

BetMGM has this total set all the way up at 43.5. DraftKings’ price of -116 implies a 53.70% chance that Hunt rushes for more than 36.5 yards. A $10 bet would profit $8.62.

Patrick Mahomes TD pick: Score a touchdown (+400) ⭐⭐⭐

After scoring a rushing touchdown in four of his first six games, Mahomes hasn’t scored in his last seven performances. However, he’s still racked up plenty of rushing yards, running for at least 30 in three consecutive games and compiling 59 yards on seven carries last week against the Texans.

I expect Mahomes to have to make plays with his legs in this game, as the Chargers have allowed just 12 passing touchdowns this season, tied for the fewest in the NFL. Meanwhile, they’ve allowed 15 rushing touchdowns, tied for the ninth-most.

Mahomes scored against the Chargers in Week 1, and the price of +400 at Caesars implies he has a 20% chance of scoring again. A $10 bet would profit $40.
