Two preseason favorites to win their respective divisions meet in a Sunday Night Football matchup as the Baltimore Ravens host the Buffalo Bills.

  • The Bills boast the league's best point differential and have climbed up the Super Bowl odds after starting 3-0
  • Bills quarterback Josh Allen is a front-runner in the NFL MVP odds, and he sits just behind Patrick Mahomes
  • The Ravens’ NFL playoff odds experienced a massive boost with their road win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3

Our Bills vs. Ravens early picks, accompanied by our Bills vs. Ravens prediction, for Sunday Night Football highlight a busy week for our Week 5 NFL coverage.

My early Bills vs. Ravens prediction: Ravens -1.5

It's not often one of the league's five unbeaten teams with an NFL-best plus-64 point differential is an underdog against a 1-2 squad. But that's the respect that oddsmakers are giving the Ravens.

Our outlook while making NFL Week 4 predictions would be way different on Baltimore if it didn't blow a 10-point fourth-quarter lead to the Las Vegas Raiders. And the Ravens even came within a toe touch of possibly beating the Kansas City Chiefs on the road in Week 1.

Buffalo has beaten some good teams (the Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins especially in the first two weeks) en route to being 3-0. But none of those clubs are necessarily known for a physical running attack, which the Ravens will employ.

This could also be the game when the Bills will really miss the presence of lead linebacker and defensive captain Terrel Bernard if he's ruled out for a second straight week with a pectoral injury.

Moneyline

There's an 11-cent gap between DraftKings’ -130 Ravens moneyline odds and Caesars’ -141 price. Buffalo is 9-1 straight up in its last 10 games, while Baltimore has won nine consecutive home outings against AFC East opponents.

However, these odds will likely move in Buffalo’s favor if there's a change, as Allen is 2-1 against Lamar Jackson.

Spread

  • Ravens best odds: -1.5 (-115) via FanDuel
  • Bills best odds: +2.5 (-105) via Caesars

The most interesting aspect of this point spread is that it hardly budged from the lookahead line after the Bills captivated a national television audience on Monday Night Football with a 47-10 romp over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

FanDuel was the only one of our best sports betting apps that seemingly moved as a result of that dominant win (from -2.5 to -1.5).

But even though several of our best sports betting sites remain at -2.5, there's little chance any of those ever move to -3. Oddsmakers know they would be completely inundated with Bills money at that key number.

Over/Under

  • Over best odds: 45 (-110) via bet365
  • Under best odds: 46.5 (-115) via FanDuel

A range of 1.5 points for a total is pretty significant early in the week. The Under has cashed in all three meetings between Allen and Jackson, though the last two kicked off with point totals of 50 points.

Therefore, FanDuel is likely to come down from 46.5 and align with the rest of the best sportsbooks instead of the total going in the other direction.
