The Texas Longhorns battle the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the Sweet 16 of the women's NCAA Tournament on Friday as we offer our best Gonzaga vs. Texas prediction and best bet for March Madness.

Vic Schaefer has led the top-seeded Texas Longhorns (32-4) to the Sweet 16 in three of her four seasons in charge. She'll hope her Longhorns advance to the Elite Eight when they take on the fourth-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs (32-3), tipping off at 10 p.m. ET (ESPN) from the Moda Center in Portland, Ore.

Texas enters this round as a 5.5-point favorite over Gonzaga across our best sports betting sites after surviving eighth-seeded Alabama in the Round of 32. The Longhorns will look for a better offensive showing against the Bulldogs, who erased a tough first quarter to roll past Utah into this Sweet 16 matchup.

Texas also sits well above Gonzaga in the women's March Madness odds.

As part of our March Madness predictions, here are our best Gonzaga vs. Texas prediction; don't miss our Indiana vs. South Carolina prediction (odds via our best March Madness betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Gonzaga vs. Texas prediction

Over 140.5 points ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -110 via bet365

If you like points, you'll love Friday's Sweet 16 matchup between two of the most prolific scoring offenses in the country.

Entering this weekend, Gonzaga (second) and Texas (fourth) both rank in the top five in offensive rating, though they get there in different ways. The Bulldogs attempt nearly 40% of their shots from long range, while the Longhorns feature four double-digit scorers who combine for 22.8 rebounds per game.

Texas' offense ran cold in its second-round win over Alabama, even with 21 points apiece from Madison Booker and Aaliyah Moore. I'd be shocked if those two - and the Longhorns' supporting cast - don't have success against a Gonzaga defense ranked just inside the top 100 in defensive efficiency.

Conversely, while Texas ranks in the top 15 in defensive rating, it's not the most effective at limiting attempts from deep. Gonzaga has the talent to take advantage with three players - Bryanna Maxwell (2.7), Kaylynne Truong (2.6), and Kayleigh Truong (2.2) - averaging at least two triples per game.

Gonzaga vs. Texas spread & Over/Under analysis

All of our best sportsbooks have Texas priced as a 5.5-point favorite over Gonzaga for Friday's matchup in the Sweet 16 after those two scored 11-point wins in the Round of 32. While the Longhorns are the No. 1 seed in the Portland 4 Region, the Bulldogs have lost just once by more than five points all season long.

The total is hovering between 140.5 and 141.5 across our best sports betting apps, which leaves some room for speculative O/U bettors to get the best number. We like the Over at that lower number, though we'd recommend checking out our best sportsbook promos regardless of your lean to see which books are offering the best bonus for this game and others throughout March Madness.
