Saturday’s Game 1 was over before it even started, as the Boston Celtics raced out to a 30-point lead in the first half and eventually secured a 112-99 win over the Atlanta Hawks. This opening-round series between Eastern Conference foes might already be over unless the Hawks can bounce back in Game 2.

Atlanta did outscore Boston in the second half, making the final score seem closer than it appeared. Was that a sign of the Hawks figuring things out or did the Celtics just let off the gas? With this spread set at double digits, oddsmakers seem to believe it was more the latter.

Boston Celtics guard Malcolm Brogdon was recently named a finalist for the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year award. He is Boston’s first representative in the running since Bill Walton in 1985-86 but was quick to credit his teammates for why he was even being considered in the first place.

That type of team-first mentality should be no surprise based on what he provides for the Celtics. Brogdon averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game during the 2022-23 campaign. But we are going to focus on the two latter statistical categories for our best Hawks vs. Celtics bet for Game 2.

Brogdon’s season averages alone would be enough to clear this combo line of 6.5 rebounds and assists. He has cleared this mark in five consecutive games, including Saturday’s Game 1.

Despite playing just 21 minutes in the opener, Brogdon finished with five rebounds and two assists. NumberFire projects 4.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists for Brogdon in Tuesday’s matchup.

Boston’s guards are emphasizing the importance of rebounding in this series, per The Athletic, so Brogdon could get close to this number on the glass alone. He has grabbed four or more boards in three straight contests.

As for his assist prop, most sports betting sites have set his total at 2.5 with the Over juiced as much as -146. That market could be worth a look based on NumberFire’s projections, but we prefer the plus-money price on this combo prop instead for our three-star Hawks vs. Celtics prediction.

All of our best NBA betting sites are in agreement that this line should be set at 6.5 rebounds and assists, with two shops having the best price at +100 on the Over. We originally played this prop at FanDuel Tuesday morning, but the best line is now at Caesars or BetMGM as we approach tipoff.

We initially chose to play this at FanDuel due to the NBA same-game parlay options by shopping there. It is worth mentioning that a three-leg SGP of Brogdon to finish with four-plus assists (+175), four-plus rebounds (+100), and the Celtics to win would net a +435 payout.

Our best bet is playable at anything -110 or better, as the Over on this line was priced around -120 at FanDuel ahead of Saturday’s matchup. We project Brogdon to play a bit more in Game 2.

DraftKings doesn’t have combo lines up for Brogdon at the time of this writing.
