NBA Top Picks

Spread: Nuggets +7.5 vs. Bucks (-105 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

Denver narrowly defeated the New Orleans Pelicans on the road Tuesday, and the team is in for another challenging road matchup Wednesday at Milwaukee. The Nuggets are 1-3 against the spread over their last four and have failed to cover in each of their last two. Despite that recent trend, the Nuggets are in a good position to cover with such a large spread. In four games in which they were at least 5-point underdogs, the Nuggets have a 3-1 ATS record.

Milwaukee is 16-7 at home and as the home favorite, but the team’s spread record is a bit misleading. The Bucks have been favored by at least 5 points in 20 games this season, but only six of those contests have come against teams with a record of .500 or better.

The team is 4-2 in those matchups, but this is far from a dominant spread record. The Nuggets should have Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray healthy, and with the two of them available, we can’t in good conscience bet on such a big Bucks win.

Upset: Thunder ML vs. Hawks (+100 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This game is essentially a pick‘em, and though the Hawks are listed as 1-point favorites, the odds for both teams on the Moneyline range from -105 to -115. That’s true on all of our featured books except for FanDuel. FanDuel offers Oklahoma City at plus-money odds, and we can get a lot of value by using that book.

The Thunder are 15-8 ATS at home, 9-5 as home underdogs, and 15-8 against Eastern Conference opponents. Straight-up, the Thunder have been equally impressive, sporting a 14-9 record at home, including an 8-6 record as home dogs.

Oklahoma City has won five of the last six and four straight at home. Atlanta has lost two in a row and has just a 2-6 ATS record as the road favorite.

Spread: Lakers -5.5 vs. Spurs (-110 via Caesars) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Lakers lost a 10th straight game to the Clippers on Tuesday, and even though LeBron James scored 46 points and hit nine triples, the Clippers won by 18. On the second game of a back-to-back set, the Lakers are in a great position to bounce back.

Anthony Davis will make his return following a month-long injury layoff, and newly acquired forward Rui Hachimura will make his Lakers debut. The Spurs are 2-3 over their last five ATS, and the team has a 9-12 record as the road underdog.

The Lakers have covered in four of their last six and covered in all three prior matchups with the Spurs this season. The Lakers are the more talented team and will bring some new firepower into a very winnable matchup.

I’d be willing to bet this one up to Lakers -8.5, and this line has actually come down a point since opening at 6.5. That’s tremendous value.

Total: Jazz-Trail Blazers Over 237.5 (-110 via PointsBet) ⭐⭐⭐

Who doesn’t love a high-scoring matchup? We’re going to get one Wednesday when the Jazz visit the Trail Blazers. The Blazers sport a 9-5-1 Over/Under record as home favorites, a 12-8-2 record at home, and a 15-14-2 record against Western Conference opponents.

The Jazz are 16-9 on the road, 11-7 as road dogs, and 17-15 against Western Conference opponents. These two teams have met twice already this season, hitting the Over once.

There’s not much line shopping to be done on this one, as our featured books all offer the same total and odds. Bettors are expecting this one to hit the Over, as 55% of bets are on that outcome.
