Sunday’s NBA slate is chock full of plus-money goodness. Our NBA best bets for Sunday are based on the top NBA odds.

We’re not playing it safe for Sunday’s NBA bets. Two of our featured wagers are upsets, and we’ve got a favorable plus-money player prop thrown in for good measure. All of our wagers are on the road team or road player, as well.

The Los Angeles Clippers and New York Knicks will look to defeat their shorthanded opponents (the Dallas Mavericks and Toronto Raptors, respectively) on the road, while Memphis will try to cover a big spread at Phoenix. Finally, we’re looking at Josh Giddey, aka “Himothee Chalamet,” to keep up his hot streak when the Oklahoma City Thunder visit the surging Denver Nuggets.

Upset: Clippers ML vs. Mavericks (+108 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

We’re starting out the slate with an upset pick that doesn’t feel much like an upset at all. For only the 18th time this season, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard will be on the court together, and the Clippers have a 10-7 record when that’s happened, including a 5-5 record on the road. Los Angeles is just 2-9 straight up as the road dog this season, but they’ll buck that trend Sunday.

After winning seven straight, the Mavs are just 3-6 across their last nine games. Dallas has gone as Luka Doncic has gone this season, as the Mavs have few other reliable options on offense. The team’s second leading scorer, Christian Wood, is out after sustaining a thumb injury, and Dallas is just 2-3 without him this season. Since joining the starting lineup, he’s averaged 20.3 points, 9.4 boards and 2.4 blocks, and that production will be sorely missed against a Clippers team that’s relatively healthy. 

The Clippers and Mavs have split this season series to this point, and Dallas’ win was a two-point victory at home. That game could have gone either way, but Leonard was absent. Now that he’s available for the rubber match, we’re taking the Clippers to come out on top.

Spread: Grizzlies -9.5 (-110 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Without their big three of Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton, and Devin Booker, the Suns came away victorious against the Indiana Pacers last night, winning 112-107 at home. Indiana is still missing star point guard Tyrese Haliburton, and the Pacers have been ice cold over the last two weeks.

Phoenix is 3-1 ATS over its last four games, but that trend is a bit misleading. The Suns covered against Indiana, Minnesota, and Brooklyn in those three games, but in their last two games against teams at full strength, the Suns lost by 29 to Denver and 30 to Memphis. 

The Suns are playing the second game of a back-to-back set, so there’s a good chance Paul and Ayton sit again. The Grizzlies are 11-7 ATS as the road favorite this season, and they should have no problem covering against Phoenix’s skeleton crew in the desert. DraftKings is offering this one at -9 with -115 odds, so we’ll avoid that book, but all of our other featured books offer this one at -9.5 with -110 odds.

Upset: Knicks ML vs. Raptors (-102 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The moneyline opened at Knicks +110, but the odds have quickly gotten shorter, and this one is essentially a pick ‘em. Betting the one-point spread doesn’t make a lot of sense, especially at -110 or -115 odds across our featured books. Instead, we can get the moneyline at odds as long as -102 on FanDuel.

The Raptors are 14-12 at home, while the Knicks are one of the best road teams in the NBA at 14-9. The road team won in all three matchups between the two teams this season, and we’re banking on that trend continuing. Both teams come into this one on three-game losing streaks, but the Raptors may be without Fred VanVleet (ribs) after he sat out Saturday, and OG Anunoby, who injured his ankle Saturday. New York will be missing Mitchell Robinson, but the Knicks are otherwise healthy. We’re taking New York.

Player Prop: Josh Giddey Double-Double vs. Nuggets (+165 via PointsBet) ⭐⭐⭐

Let’s close our best bets with a plus-money player prop. This is another wager that doesn’t feel like it should be offered at plus-money, so we’ll take advantage of the favorable odds. BetMGM and Caesars offer this one at +125 and +130 respectively, so we won’t even consider them. DraftKings (+150), FanDuel (+155) and PointsBet (+165) offer our best odds.

Giddey has posted a double-double in four of his last six games, averaging 20.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 8.2 assists in that span. Giddey’s chances of producing a double-double are even better thanks to his ability to rack up assists and rebounds, as two of his last four double-doubles have been with points and boards, one has been with points and dimes, and one has been a triple-double. He had one double-double against the Nuggets in three prior season matchups, and he’ll add another one to his season total Sunday.
