The Timberwolves will only go as far as Anthony Edwards takes them, and unfortunately for Minnesota they’re stuck in a holding pattern at the moment. Edwards has been out with right knee inflammation since March 15. Below, we will dish out an Anthony Edwards injury update and provide the latest information on when he will be back.
⌛️ When will Anthony Edwards be back and return to the court for the Timberwolves?
The Timberwolves announced on March 17 that Edwards would be re-evaluated in 1-2 weeks.
So, the earliest we could see Edwards back on the court is Wednesday, March 25. That return date is unlikely, however, as Minnesota wants their superstar 100% heading into the NBA postseason.
The Timberwolves are 44-28 and currently hold the 6 spot in the Western Conference standings. Minnesota is four games in front of the Suns, who are in the 7 spot and would have to participate in the NBA Play-In Tournament if the regular season were to conclude today.
The T’Wolves will want to avoid the Play-In round for sure, but Edwards’ health as we get set to enter April is paramount.
Anthony Edwards possible return dates
- Saturday, March 28: Pistons at Timberwolves
- Monday, March 30: Timberwolves at Mavericks
- Thursday, April 2: Timberwolves at Pistons
- Friday, April 3: Timberwolves at 76ers
- Sunday, April 5: Hornets at Timberwolves
- Tuesday, April 7: Timberwolves at Pacers
It is believed that Edwards has a mild case of right knee inflammation with “patellofemoral pain syndrome.” That’s a fancy phrase for “runner’s knee,” which is due to overuse.
The recovery time for a mild case of runner’s knee is 3-14 days. That jives with the 1-2 weeks that Edwards was initially thought to be out for.
🏀 Anthony Edwards odds
Edwards is always in the mix for NBA MVP and is still on the board despite the injury. A player must play in 65 of 82 games in a season in order to be eligible for postseason awards. The same threshold applies to making any All-NBA team.
The 24-year-old Edwards has played in 58 games so far, and the Timberwolves have 10 regular season games remaining.
In fantasy basketball, Edwards was going in the first round in most every draft this past fall. He was the consensus No. 3 overall pick in Yahoo! Leagues.
Edwards is averaging a career-high 29.5 points per game this season.
🐺 Timberwolves championship odds
NBA Finals odds show the Timberwolves with a +4500 price. Only eight teams have a lower price to win it all.
Minnesota is around +2000 to win the Western Conference at the best NBA betting sites.
