Sparks vs. Sky Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tuesday's WNBA Game

Two of the worst teams in the WNBA meet on Tuesday when the Chicago Sky host the Los Angeles Sparks at Wintrust Arena in Chicago at 8 p.m. ET (NBA TV), with L.A. listed as a four-point favorite based on the WNBA odds.

With neither of these teams being WNBA championship odds contenders, our Sparks vs. Sky prediction is targeting the most talented player on the court.

My Sparks vs. Sky best bet: Kelsey Plum Over 18.5 points (-114 via FanDuel)

There's almost no reason to watch this game. These teams are a combined 7-20 this season and are among the bottom three in average point differential and net rating, so why watch? Well, Kelsey Plum has a chance to put on an absolute show.

For as bad as the Sparks have been, the three-time All-Star has not disappointed since being acquired by L.A. from the Las Vegas Aces. The 30-year-old is fourth in the W in points per game (20.5) and and fifth in made 3-pointers per game (2.7).

Although she's not kept up her hot start, Plum continues to be one of the most lethal scorers in the league, and the Sky felt that the last time, when she dropped 28 on them. It could be much of the same today, with Chicago allowing the most points per game in the league (88.4) and having the second-lowest defensive rating (112.8).

Tyler Marsh's squad is especially bad defending the perimeter, with it allowing the most made 3-pointers per game (11.2) and the highest 3-point percentage (40.9%). That should help a sharpshooter like Plum hit the Over on this line. I'd even bet the Over on her points up to 20.5.

Only one player in the W is averaging double-digit rebounds this season, and it's Angel Reese. The LSU product is pulling down 11.5 boards per game, which is why these plus-money odds on her Over are so enticing. Reese is coming off a 19-rebound performance and has cleared 11.5 rebounds in seven of 13 games.

While she may not be much help when it comes to hitting the Over in this game, a few of Reese's teammates are capable scorers. Kamilla Cardoso has emerged as a threat inside and Ariel Atkins remains a steady 3-point shooter. Those two can take advantage of a Sparks defense that's fourth-worst in rating (109.7).
