Boston has taken seven of eight from New York in this season's series to date, and my Red Sox vs. Yankees prediction backs the visitors to make it eight straight against their division rivals tonight.

The best sports betting sites list Boston as a -130 betting favorite, with a total set at O/U 8.5 runs. First pitch from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, N.Y., is slated for 1:05 p.m. ET (MLB Network), as these American League East foes get the MLB spotlight to themselves in this timeslot.

I am adding one of the road team's top young sluggers to my Red Sox vs. Yankees best bets, as well.

Garrett Crochet has been a mixed bag in his two prior starts against New York this season, whereas Boston's bats have punished the pinstripes for 5.9 runs per game across the last seven meetings. Thus, the Red Sox's offense gives me more confidence, and my Red Sox vs. Yankees prediction backs the hitters in case Crochet doesn't have his best stuff.

New York made history this week as the first team ever to record multiple games in a season with nine-plus home runs. However, Crochet should neutralize that power - even though the Yankees have the highest team OPS against southpaws - as he has not allowed a home run in six of his previous 10 starts.

Crochet has the third-highest strikeout rate and also ranks top five in xERA and FIP among all qualified pitchers. He has benefitted from extra rest of late, as he made seven of his first 16 starts through June 18 on four days' rest, but none since. As a result of that, and throwing the pitch at a season-low 27.7% clip in August, his fastball velocity is up to 97.1 mph this month, his highest of the year.

Boston’s moneyline is my Red Sox vs. Yankees best bet, despite losing each of Crochet’s last two starts, as the team is still 10-3 in his 13 outings since the start of June. I am making this wager at Caesars, as the Red Sox have as high as a 57.45% implied probability through -135 odds elsewhere at the high end of the market.

Roman Anthony is one of only two players (Juan Soto) to rank in the 95th percentile or better in chase percentage and hard-hit rate. His plate discipline and hard contact make him the focus of my best Red Sox vs. Yankees player props.

Between June 21 and Aug. 22, Anthony batted .318 with four home runs, 21 RBI, and a .921 OPS over those 49 games. He reveled in his Yankee Stadium debut on Thursday, homering and driving in three runs.

These are great odds considering Anthony has gone Over this projected total in eight of the last 13 games, and did so the hard way with six multi-hit outings in that span. A $10 winning wager nets $14 in profits, which is $1 more than the other best sports betting apps offer with their +130 odds.

❓MLB betting FAQs

How do betting odds work?

Betting odds represent the probability of a specific outcome and determine how much money you can win on a bet. There are three main formats: American odds, Decimal odds, and Fractional odds. In the U.S., American odds are most common.

What is the run line in baseball?

The run line in baseball is a form of point spread betting unique to MLB. It typically sets a standard spread of 1.5 runs, meaning the favored team must win by at least two runs to cover the run line, while the underdog can lose by one run or win outright to cover.

What does moneyline mean in betting?

The moneyline in betting refers to a wager on which team or player will win the game outright, with no point spread involved. It’s the most straightforward type of sports bet - just pick the winner.
