Cruz continues to endure issues making consistent contact. His average sits at just .229, and he's striking out during a third of his plate appearances. However, when he does make contact, Cruz does damage.

The talented power-speed threat has cleared this line in three straight games and in six of his last 10. And tonight he gets an advantageous matchup against Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon.

Not only is Cruz significantly better against righties - he's almost useless against southpaws - but tonight he faces a pitcher who isn't particularly good at keeping the ball in the field. Taillon is allowing 1.89 home runs per nine innings this year, the second-worst rate in the majors.
