The Athletics will have to endure a stretch of time without All-Star shortstop Jacob Wilson. Wilson was placed on the IL with a fractured left forearm, but he is expected to play again this season. Below, we look at when Wilson is likely to be back on the field for the Athletics and identify potential return dates for the 23-year-old.
🚑 When will Jacob Wilson return and be back with Athletics?
A fractured forearm sounds much worse than it actually is, as far as recovery time is concerned. Many MLB players, including the Cardinals’ Willson Contreras last season, have come back a little over a month after sustaining the injury.
Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said that the club is very optimistic that Wilson would return this season, according to MLB.com’s Theo DeRosa.
Based on all of the information currently at hand, it is looking like Wilson could return to the A’s lineup in early-to-mid-September.
Here is a look at the Athletics’ schedule around that time.
- Sunday, September 7: Athletics at Los Angeles Angels
- Monday, September 8: Boston Red Sox at Athletics
- Tuesday, September 9: Boston Red Sox at Athletics
- Wednesday, September 10: Boston Red Sox at Athletics
- Friday, September 12: Cincinnati Reds at Athletics
⏳ How long will Jacob Wilson be out for?
As mentioned above, Contreras had a very similar injury last season. The fractured forearm kept the Cardinals' first baseman out of the St. Louis lineup for 48 days, around the same amount of time that Wilson is expected to be out. If Wilson were to return in 48 days, he would make his return on Wednesday, September 10.
💰 Athletics betting
The Athletics had among the worst World Series odds at the start of the season, and they remain at the bottom of odds boards. Kotsay’s club opened with a +20000 price to win it all, and they currently sit at a whopping +100000.
While Athletics futures aren’t too appealing, A’s game lines and player props are available whenever the team takes the field. Be sure to check out our best MLB betting sites for more baseball odds.
