Both Colombia and Canada have struggled to find effective pitching so far in the World Baseball Classic. That trend could lead to plenty of runs on Tuesday. Read on for our Colombia vs. Canada picks for the WBC 2023.

Colombia and Canada will send respective minor league arms to the mound on Tuesday to face opposing lineups that feature capable MLB-caliber talent. 

Strike-throwing could be an issue for the Colombians as lefty Adrian Almeida takes the mound against a Canadian lineup that seeks a mulligan following a tough loss to Team USA.

Over 12 (-105 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It was a night to forget for 19-year-old Team Canada starter Mitch Bratt on Monday as he was pulled from the game against Team USA in the first inning of a 12-1 loss. Canada’s pitching staff has not performed particularly well so far in the tournament, allowing 20 runs in two games - the most recent of which was shortened due to the mercy rule - for an ERA near 14.00.

While this group isn’t as loaded as the United States lineup that just hung 12 runs on Canada, Colombia boasts a lineup sprinkled with MLB experience, as well. Noah Skirrow, a 24-year-old who topped out at Triple-A last season, will be the Canadian starter. Though he carries a bit more experience to the table than Bratt did, I still like Colombia to continue the trend of runs being scored against Team Canada on Tuesday.

On the other side, Canada has sluggers like Freddie Freeman and Tyler O’Neill that could do some damage against a Colombian pitching staff that just coughed up seven runs to arguably the worst on-paper lineup in Pool C, Great Britain.

It will be Adrian Almeida getting the ball for the Colombians. The 28-year-old posted an ERA north of 6.00 last season in Mexico, allowing nearly a walk per inning. If command issues could mount against him Tuesday, Canada has enough thump in the middle of the order to make him pay. As both lineups seem to have an advantage of the pitching on either side, the bats could light things up in this matchup.

PointsBet offers the most attainable number on the Over at 11.5, but it will cost you -125 odds to bet it. DraftKings, BetMGM, and Caesars all have the number at an even 12 runs, with DraftKings offering the most favorable odds of the bunch at -105.

FanDuel has the total inflated to 12.5. Even the even odds being offered on the Over aren’t enough to entice me into a far worse line, so we’ll avoid FanDuel for this play.
