MLB Predictions & Player Props Today, July 23

After some time away, I'm back with my favorite MLB player props. And as usual, I'm scouring the best MLB betting sites to get you the top odds for all of Tuesday's picks.

Today's MLB predictions and player props are somewhat of a homecoming for me, as I make my (hopefully) triumphant return after roughly six weeks away. For those who've been following me this season either in our articles or on X, we were +10.07 units before my hiatus. Let's start the second half of the season strong.

Tuesday features a jam-packed slate and plenty of intriguing matchups, with Paul Skenes Day highlighting the schedule, along with a Subway Series showdown and multiple Cy Young odds contenders on the mound.

MLB player props for Tuesday

Zack Wheeler Under 6.5 strikeouts ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: -105 via bet365 | Implied probability: 51.22%

Philadelphia Phillies ace Zack Wheeler is among the favorites in the NL Cy Young race, and he's averaging 9.72 strikeouts per nine this season thanks to a 27% K rate (the latter serving as the second-best of his career).

However, based on an average strikeout total of 5.94 from all four of our trusted projection models, we're getting roughly 19% positive expected value on Wheeler's strikeout Under through bet365's -105 odds.

Pinnacle, which features one of the most respected trading teams in the sports betting industry, is pricing Wheeler's Under at -131 after opening it at -108.

A $10 wager at these -105 odds would pay $9.52 in profit if Wheeler manages six or fewer strikeouts.

Shawn Armstrong Over 1.5 strikeouts ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +195 via  DraftKings | Implied probability: 33.9%

Armstrong is set to open Tuesday's contest for the Tampa Bay Rays. Most openers go just one inning, but Armstrong has gone two frames in three of the five contests he's started this season, including each of the last two.

Armstrong is averaging 9.49 strikeouts per nine this season, but he's managed 12 punchouts in eight innings as an opener this season, going Over this total three times.

DraftKings offers the best price on this prop, and don't be scared about the low implied probability. Pinnacle opened with this Over priced at +162, odds associated with nearly a 40% implied probability.

If you want to get a little nuts, I'm also putting half a unit on Armstrong to record three-plus strikeouts at +594 through Caesars. Comparatively, DraftKings prices that alt Over at +550, and bet365 has it at just +425. On a $5 wager, you'll win $29.70 in profit through Caesars' odds.
