Our sports betting experts offer up their best bets from today's offering based on the odds from our best sportsbooks. Tuesday's top picks look to the NBA, college basketball, the NHL, and Wednesday's Farmers Insurance Open on the PGA Tour.

Tuesday's NBA Best Bet

Bam Adebayo Over 24.5 points vs. Celtics (+210 via PointsBet) ⭐⭐⭐

The Boston Celtics are likely to be without Robert Williams (knee), and Al Horford (rest) is out for the second leg of Boston’s back-to-back set. That leaves some combination of Luke Kornet, Blake Griffin, and Grant Williams to hold things down at center. In other words, Adebayo should feast against this thinned-out defense.

His points prop is set at 20.5 or 21.5 depending on the book, but we always like to peek at the alternate lines, and both FanDuel (+180) and PointsBet (+210) offer it at 24.5 for plus-money odds.

In three prior matchups with Boston this season, Adebayo posted totals of 28, 23, and 19 points. Over his last 15 games, he’s averaged 22.7 points and scored at least 25 in five of them.

Tuesday's College Basketball Best Bet

NC State -8.5 vs. Notre Dame (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey announced he's stepping down at the end of the season after 23 years on the job, but the team had been underperforming relative to its preseason expectations long before the announcement.

The Fighting Irish have lost six of seven games (four by double digits), and none of their nine wins are away from South Bend. Now they face an N.C. State team that plays at a top-60 pace, something Brey’s team is uncomfortable with, as it would rather grind out a game in the half-court.

This is a four-star play, as the Wolfpack should be undeterred by Notre Dame’s defense. N.C. State ranks eighth in turnover percentage (14.5%) to the Fighting Irish’s 359th-ranked turnovers forced rate.

BetMGM and Caesars are the only sportsbooks offering N.C. State at -8.5, as others are as high as -9.5 already.

Tuesday's NHL Best Bet

Max Domi Over 2.5 shots (+118 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐

Domi has cleared this total in six of the past eight games, and he’s pacing the Chicago Blackhawks in both shots and attempts per 60 minutes during the stretch. It’s obviously a limited sample, but Domi’s ice time is also up, and it’s clear he’s more committed to shooting the puck with a spike to 11.7 shots and 18.6 attempts per 60 compared to his respective 6.8 and 12.2 marks through the first 37 games of the year.

While this isn’t a high-end matchup, that’s baked into these plus-money odds. Plus, the Vancouver Canucks have dropped 10 of 13 contests while allowing a middling 30.9 shots per 60 minutes out of the holiday break. I’m also not concerned about this being Rick Tocchet’s first game as head coach of the Canucks.

Because the increased shot volume from Domi is a relatively recent development, and we’re not gaining a tremendous advantage by price shopping, I’ve rated this as a two-star recommendation. Still, landing the +118 odds through FanDuel presents a 2.2% edge and 5% positive expected value over the +108 number via Caesars.

Tuesday's PGA Tour Best Bet

Hideki Matsuyama (+4000 via PointsBet)

One beneficiary of the strong field and the absurdly low odds on Rahm is the 2021 Masters champion. Matsuyama, who enters the week at No. 20 in the world ranking, is the ninth-best golfer in the field by the measure of the OWGR. However, he has just the 12th-best odds to win the Farmers Insurance Open at PointsBet. That's excellent value for a brand-name golfer. Caesars is offering market-low odds of +2800.

Matsuyama also has a quality course history at Torrey Pines. Over 27 career rounds on the South course, he has averaged 1.48 true strokes gained per round on the field. That includes a top finish of T-3 in the 2019 FIO.
