The Cavaliers (29-19) expect to get point guard Donovan Mitchell back for Tuesday night after a multi-game absence. Will his presence lead to a more prominent push for points against a Knicks (25-23) team that has seen consistency in cashing the Over across the past couple of weeks?

The Cavs opened as 3-point favorites at most of our Best NBA Betting Sites and have remained locked into that number across the board. Both sides have drawn action on this spread, with New York garnering the slight edge with 52% of the money wagered.

The total opened at 219 and has increased to 220.5 or 221 as 62% of the money wagered has gone on the Over.

The Cavs are slightly more generous on the road than at home, though, as their road defensive scoring average checks in at 108.5, which is 2.4 points per game higher than the 106.1 mark Cleveland allows at home.

New York, meanwhile, averages 115.1 points per game of offense at home, about 1.6 PPG better than its scoring average on the road. The combined scoring splits clear 224, while the combined scoring defense numbers check in a shade above 221. With a total topping out at 221, the averages provide a slight edge to an Over bet.

The last time these teams faced off at The Garden resulted in a 92-81 win for the Knicks in a defensive battle on December 4. But the offenses had a better rhythm in a 121-108 final on October 30 in Cleveland. Recent trends suggest a matchup more similar to the October affair, as New York games have recently been competitive with this number. The Knicks have played just one of their last 10 games to a combined point total below 220. 

Knicks home games are 14-10 to the Over this season, which is tied for the ninth-highest rate in the NBA this season. With Cleveland’s most explosive offensive player, Mitchell, listed as probable to return to the lineup after a brief absence, I like both sides to play with good energy offensively to push this attackable total to the Over.

If the line increased to 221.5, this recommendation reduces to three stars.
