In a Big Ten showdown, the second-ranked Michigan Wolverines face off against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and we're here with our expert prediction for the Michigan vs. Minnesota matchup, meticulously formulated using the college football odds sourced from our best sports betting apps.

This is a tough test for the 3-2 Minnesota Golden Gophers. They’re just 1-2 against Power Five opponents and struggled to fully pull away from the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns until the fourth quarter during last week’s 35-24 win as a near double-digit favorite.

Sporting an unblemished 5-0 record, the Michigan Wolverines have been dominating opponents with a remarkable +152 point differential, making them a clear and strong road favorite as the No. 2 ranked team in the nation.

Notably, Michigan has held all five opponents to fewer than ten points, boasting the lowest points-allowed average in the nation at 6.0 points per game, and we anticipate yet another formidable performance from the country's most stingy defense.

There are many Michigan doubters this season, and each of the arguments against the Wolverines begins with the fact they haven’t played anyone. While that may be true, their competition this week is no better than the first five.

The Golden Gophers have played three Power Five opponents, but their two Big 10 matchups were against two of the worst teams in the conference. Offensively, they pose no threat to the Wolverines’ defense. Athan Kaliakmanis has yet to throw for 200 yards in a game this season, and he has just five touchdowns to go with four interceptions.

The Wolverines’ defense has been stellar. No matter who is on your schedule, if you’re allowing six points per game, you’re doing something right. One area that the Wolverines could improve to really put the clamp down is turnover margin. Right now, their turnover margin per game is just 0.2. Meanwhile, the Golden Gophers have an average turnover margin of 0.8.

However, we don’t think it’s going to matter. The Wolverines are a complete football team and their defense is one of the best units in the country. Against a team that has scored 13 in two games this season, we see no reason why they will give up more than that.

Though the Golden Gophers are the home team, we expect this line to move in favor of the Wolverines, as the Minnesota offense doesn’t have an advantage to exploit in this game.

The total opened at 45.5, and it has either remained there or gone up to 46 at each of the five major sportsbooks. It’s hard to know how this line will move considering the Wolverines have been doing most of the scoring in their games. The Golden Gophers have scored 30 or more in back-to-back contests, so perhaps this low Over will see some action.
