In a matchup between two of the undefeated Big Ten teams, the Ohio State Buckeyes host the Maryland Terrapins, and we offer our top prediction for Maryland vs. Ohio State based on the best college football odds from our best sports betting apps, setting the stage for the action.

This is the first time the Maryland Terrapins are 5-0 since 2001, when they finished 10-2 and appeared in the Orange Bowl. The strong start had the Terrapins just missing out of ranking in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches poll this week. So, a win over the 4-0 Ohio State Buckeyes would all but promise to land Maryland in the rankings on Tuesday.

The problem is that the Buckeyes are coming off a bye following their thrilling last-second win over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Ohio State won each of their other three games by 20-plus points.

Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa is coming off winning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors for the third time in his career after completing 24 of 34 passes for 352 yards and a career-high five touchdowns (he added one rushing touchdown) against Indiana. In the process, Tagovailoa became the first Terrapin to throw five or more touchdown passes in a game since 1994, and is now the first Maryland quarterback to throw for 9,000 yards. He can show the poise and toughness needed to compete and be successful in an environment as challenging as the Horseshoe.

Meanwhile, it is only a matter of time before Ohio State’s offense clicks under new quarterback Kyle McCord. McCord totaled 167 passing yards and averaged 10.7 yards per completion with one pass play of 20-plus yards in his first seven drives against Notre Dame. However, on the final drive, McCord had two 20-yard completions and averaged 14.6 yards per completion while throwing for 73 yards.

McCord has the same 65% completion rate through his first four career games as C.J. Stroud, but McCord has not yet thrown an interception while Stroud had three in that span.

Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day is a great offensive mind and likely spent the bye week scheming ways to get Marvin Harrison Jr. and Co. out in space. And for Ohio State’s perceived lack of explosiveness relative to what it's had in recent years, McCord still ranks sixth among all FBS quarterbacks with an 87.7 Total QBR, and leads an offense ranked sixth in SP+ entering Week 6.

This is a four-star play since the lowest combined score is 65 points in the eight meetings between these teams since Maryland joined the Big Ten. There is no reason to think these two offenses cannot provide similar fireworks.
