Things will look very different on Friday as Coach Prime opens a new era with a new roster, and my early Georgia Tech vs. Colorado prediction, odds and picks dive into the latest.

My initial lean helps highlight my early best bet for the Buffaloes' as they navigate a new season following the departures of Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter to the NFL.

Kickoff from Folsom Field in Boulder, Colo., is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN), but the home side are not expected to be the victor. Georgia Tech as a 4.5-point betting favorite, with the total set as low as 51.5 points.

Brent Key has built a reputation as a coach who thrives against the spread, boasting a 10-5 record ATS (7-8 SU) as an underdog. However, the Yellow Jackets aren't used to being road favorites against P4 competition. They're 14-11-1 ATS since Key's interim tag was removed in 2023, but those numbers drop to 5-5 away from home (1-4 SU on the road last year).

Meanwhile, Colorado is 16-8-1 ATS under Deion Sanders, including 9-3 both as an underdog and at home. The Buffaloes have been superb at Folsom Field since Prime's arrival, finishing 5-1 SU last season. However, my Georgia Tech vs. Colorado early predictions disregard these trends and back Georgia Tech.

Colorado - which finished with the No. 71 rush defense in 2024 (151.4 yards per game allowed) - will struggle with the Yellow Jackets' ground game. The Georgia Tech law firm of Haynes & Haynes (Haynes King and Jamal Haynes) has the potential to rush all over a new-look, mediocre Buffaloes front seven. I'll side with Key and Co. to cover the spread in this contest.

Georgia Tech vs. Colorado odds analysis

When the lines were first released for this game in June at the best sports betting sites, the Yellow Jackets opened as 4.5-point betting favorites. The public jumped all over the Buffaloes at this price, betting it down to Georgia Tech -3.5.

However, with BetMGM reporting 64% of spread action leaning toward the visitors -4, it's hard to imagine this one not returning to its original spread as kickoff nears.
