Florida vs. Georgia Prediction, Picks & Odds: Week 10

Can Georgia keep rolling along off its bye against a better-than-expected Florida squad?

Our Florida vs. Georgia prediction expects the Bulldogs to get back on track after their bye week.

No. 2 Georgia (6-1) has won three in a row since losing to Alabama, including a 30-15 victory over Texas on Oct. 19. Florida (4-3) has been better than expected and is coming off a 48-20 win over Kentucky.

Still, the Bulldogs are 14.5-point favorites ahead of Saturday’s matchup with the Gators at 3:30 p.m. ET in EverBank Stadium on ABC. And I’m predicting a lopsided affair in favor of Georgia as part of our college football Week 10 predictions.

Florida vs. Georgia against the spread prediction: Week 10

Georgia to cover the spread: -14.5 (-105) ⭐⭐⭐

Florida vs. Georgia opening odds:

  • Florida +18.5 (-110 via BetMGM)
  • Georgia - 18.5 (-110 via BetMGM)

Over the summer, this line was as high as 22.5 in the lookahead markets before re-opening at Georgia -18.5 earlier this week. The Bulldogs are now laying -14.5 against the Gators, indicating that bettors are taking the underdogs.

FanDuel offers the best price on Georgia with a -105 value for the spread. That means bettors could get a better deal by shopping at that book for an alternate spread, but I don’t mind laying 14.5 points in this one.

This game feels like a chance for Georgia to remind everyone why it is still one of the best teams in college football.

Bulldogs vs. freshman QB

Florida thrust true freshman quarterback DJ Lagway into action sooner than anticipated. Given the circumstances, Lagway has done an admirable job in his debut season, throwing for 1,024 yards and five touchdowns in seven games.

But a matchup against Georgia’s defense is a different kind of test. The Bulldogs have ranked 20th in defensive success rate this season, including 19th against the pass. They have posted a PFF coverage grade of 86.3 this year, making life difficult for any signal-caller.

This matchup swings too much in Georgia’s favor to not believe in Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs.

DJ Lagway Under 196.5 passing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The market seems to agree that it could be a long day for Lagway, as his passing prop has dropped since opening at 202.5. That’s a sign that the sharper college football bettors are on this Under.

Not only is Georgia’s defense a tough matchup, but the Gators haven’t asked Lagway to do too much in his debut season. He’s averaged 15.5 passing attempts over the last two games and only had one outing where he tossed the ball more than 17 times.

Even in a negative game script, I’d be surprised to see Lagway throw enough to flirt with 200 passing yards against the Bulldogs. I project him to finish below this mark by a solid margin.
