After a year in Corvallis, Oregon, DJ Uiagalelei is back in the ACC playing for a college football championship odds contender.

Uiagalelei is even being viewed as a dark-horse Heisman Trophy odds candidate after his improvements with the Beavers heading into Mike Norvell's explosive offense. And a hot opening game in Week 0 will help his cause.

DJ Uiagalelei Over 20.5 rushing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Uiagalelei wasn't asked to do nearly as much as a runner as he had been at Clemson while playing in Jonathan Smith's pro-style offense with the Beavers last year. However, he still averaged 18.2 rushing yards per game.

Now I'm expecting Norvell to take advantage of Uiagalelei's size and athleticism as a runner against a Georgia Tech defense that allowed the most rushing yards per game among power conference teams last year (225.7).

Uiagalelei ran for over 20.5 yards in 10 of 13 games two years ago at Clemson, and he also produced the 10th-most rushing yards after contact in the country among QBs (406), according to PFF.

DJ Uiagalelei Under 235.5 passing yards (-115) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

While with Oregon State last season Uiagalelei still wasn't asked to throw the rock around the yard like some sort of Mike Leach quarterback. He was steady and clearly improved as a passer, but Uiagalelei averaged just 219.8 passing yards per game.

Norvell probably won't be asking Uiagalelei to throw it all that much in a cold game overseas against a dreadful Yellow Jackets run defense. He's only thrown for 236-plus yards six times in 25 games over the last two seasons.

Georgia Tech's pass defense is much more competent than its run defense, too. The Yellow Jackets allowed the 26th-fewest passing yards per game among power conference teams last season (212.5) and were 42nd in EPA per pass.

DJ Uiagalelei anytime TD scorer (+125) ⭐⭐⭐

Jordan Travis rushed for 28 touchdowns in 42 games over four seasons as Norvell's starting QB. Uiagalelei has notched 13 rushing touchdowns across the last two campaigns, and he started last season with five in his first four outings.

Part of the reason for the drop-off in production during the back half of last season was the increased usage of his freshman backup at Oregon State, Aidan Chiles.

That won't happen for Uiagalelei at Florida State, and this is a Georgia Tech defense that allowed the eighth-most rushing touchdowns in the country last season (28). Eight of those were to QBs.
