Delaware State and Hawaii play the fourth of four games of the opening college football Week 0 slate as both teams look to kickstart successful 2024 campaigns.

This matchup does not have all of the same offerings among our best sports betting sites as a typical college football game would, considering this is an FCS vs. FBS matchup.

However, I still found plenty of value in two plays to make my Delaware State vs. Hawaii predictions. We also laid out our favorite way to bet the total in our college football Week 0 expert picks.

As I laid out in my college football Week 0 predictions & best bets, this is one of the best bets of the week on an inflated total for the Hornets.

Delaware State’s lone win in 11 games last year came against a Division II program. The Hornets’ struggles were primarily due to an offense held to 17 or fewer points seven times. But while Hawaii may race out to a big first-half lead, it should call off the dogs in the second half with a mammoth home game against UCLA next weekend.

This line has reached a point where the value lies squarely with the underdogs. The Warriors are projected as the 109th best of 134 FBS teams, per Bill Connelly’s SP+ rankings. And considering Delaware State was less than a four-touchdown underdog (+27.5) at FanDuel on July 17, its value is at its highest, with this line moving 13 points since then.

DraftKings is a full point higher than the rest of our best sports betting apps, and I am jumping on this number in what will likely kick-off as a massive contrarian play.

Second half Under 26.5 points (-110) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Hawaii ranks seventh nationally in returning production, including quarterback Brayden Schager (3,542 passing yards and 26 touchdowns last year) and his top six receivers. However, weather should loom as a big factor, especially against Hawaii’s pass-happy attack, as Honolulu is projected for wind gusts of over 20 mph.

DraftKings has Delaware State’s team total O/U at 2.5 and Hawaii’s at 21.5 for the second half. Interestingly, both are juiced to the Under (-115 for Delaware State and -140 for Hawaii), and those two totals add to 24 points, which is already 2.5 points lower than the projected total.

Other sportsbooks like FanDuel have Delaware State’s +7.5 fourth-quarter spread juiced to -174, indicating oddsmakers’ confidence that Hawaii will not run up the score. The Over 26.5 is juiced to -130, which comes with a 56.52% implied win probability, and I'm afraid I have to disagree with that and am backing the Under with a $10 wager for a potential $19.09 payout.
