The 2026 college football Conference Championship odds kicks off in about a week and in earnest in two weeks. If you are not ready yet, there is still time to study, just not much time.

On one hand, conference championship bets can largely wait until mid- to late-September, when conference play begins across the country. Even a Week 1 loss in conference play is unlikely to skew odds by too much.

On the other hand, encouraging returns early on could make it clear how undervalued some teams are. Let’s bet on a few of those before their futures possibly shorten.

🏈 Miami (OH) +410 to win the MAC at FanDuel

The logic to betting on Miami (OH) now is that the RedHawks have two viable chances to knock off Power Four teams in nonconference play, and doing so will garner plenty of attention. While Miami is a 16.5-point underdog at Pitt to open the season, nothing would be more up Pat Narduzzi’s lane than to lay an egg in that opener.

More likely, the RedHawks could match up well with Cincinnati in Week 3. Stranger things have happened.

Such an upset would immediately shorten Miami’s MAC title chances, logically or not.

Furthermore, the RedHawks’ MAC worries do not really kick into gear until the final week of the season, on the road to face Western Michigan after Thanksgiving. That could well be a MAC title game preview. But up until then, Miami should roll through conference play, lowering these odds on a weekly basis.

🏈 North Dakota State +300 to win the Mountain West at bet365

Casual bettors will refuse to believe this until it is too plainly in front of them, but sharp college football fans understand North Dakota State is ready for its first year in the FBS. The monetary outlay to make this move up is evidence enough. The Bison know the quality they already have.

One could make an argument that this will be the best Group of Six team in the country, but more time will be needed to be certain of that.

One thing is certain: The Bison will be hefty favorites in every game until an Oct. 10 trip to UNLV. Starting the year 5-0, including 2-0 in Mountain West play, will start chipping away at these odds.

The new-look Mountain West should not demand North Dakota State run the table to reach the title game, so a stumble at UNLV, New Mexico and/or Hawai’i will be affordable. It is tough luck to get all three of those games, the toughest other teams in the conference, on the road, but as the best team in the conference, North Dakota State is also likely to cruise to 6-0 in the rest of the slate.

As soon as the Bison win one of those worrying road games, their conference futures should shift decisively in their favor.

🏈 Boise State +160 to win the Pac-12 at DraftKings

This remains baffling, so let’s make this quick. Boise State should be favored by at least a field goal in every Pac-12 game, and probably by a touchdown in every game except an Oct. 10 trip to Fresno State.

If you are at a wedding reception that particular weekend, there is a good chance you will be trying to watch The CW late into the night rather than anything on a better-known broadcast.

Sportsbooks will skew this number toward -160 if Boise State wins that game. Snagging this future before then will be savvy.

🏈 Cal +4400 to win the ACC at DraftKings

Will this happen? Probably not. But then again, in the ACC, who knows.

Here is what could happen: Cal could capitalize on an advantageous conference scheduling featuring three of the bottom-five teams in the conference and combine that with an upset of Clemson on a September Friday night.

The Tigers may be only touchdown favorites for that 10:30 ET kickoff.

Things just might get weird enough for the Golden Bears to expedite Dabo Swinney’s farewell. They could then be 4-0 in ACC play before a late-October trip to SMU. By then, confidence may be quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele’s best friend. In the ACC, that is often enough.
