The Chanticleers have lost back-to-back games to start 0-2 in conference play. Quarterback Grayson McCall has already thrown six interceptions after throwing just eight total in his first three years with the program.
The Mountaineers picked up a thrilling 41-40 win over Louisiana-Monroe to move to 3-2 on the season. Their two losses were both on the road and by a combined nine points. At home, they’ve won both games by 15 or more points.

The Chanticleers seem to be benefiting from their success last season when these lines are made. Nothing that has taken place on the field for either of these teams suggests that the Chanticleers should be able to keep this within a touchdown. Yet, this is only a three-star play because it does seem a little fishy.
The Mountaineers will cover in this game because they can defend the pass and successfully run the ball. They’re averaging nearly 205 rushing yards per game, which is top 15 in college football, and they’re about to face a defense that allows 164 rushing yards per game.
On the other side, the Mountaineers are allowing just 179.8 passing yards per game. This is a unit that held Drake Maye to just 208 yards back in early September despite that game going to double overtime. The Tar Heels' rushing attack was able to get the win, but the Chanticleers don’t have a rushing attack to speak of.
The whole Chanticleers’ offense falls on McCall. He's averaging 33.6 passing attempts per game and has thrown the ball 39-plus times in three contests. It’s the type of offense that doesn’t lead to success against the Mountaineers.

We’d get in as soon as possible, as getting this at the key number is much less enticing than where it is now.

This has led to FanDuel offering +6.5 for -115, while BetMGM has gone the opposite direction, offering -6.5 for -115. At the moment, it seems the key number is in play, but we’d guess it will move to 6, which is where it already sits at bet365.
The total for the game opened at 61.5. It has remained there at every major sportsbook except for DraftKings and bet365 where it sits at 61. As of this writing, 55% of bettors are backing the Under, so we expect this number to continue to drop.
