Arch Manning's Heisman Trophy odds continue to have him priced among the top contenders and favorites for the 2024 award ahead of his first collegiate start on Saturday.
Texas enters college football's Week 4 at 3-0 and as the No. 1 team in the latest edition of the AP Top 25. The Longhorns are the new favorites by the SEC championship odds and Manning enters his first start among the Heisman Trophy odds favorites.
This all comes with Texas' starting QB, Quinn Ewers, out week-to-week due to shoulder and sternum injuries.

Manning's Heisman Trophy odds soared up the board Saturday during his emergency appearance against UTSA, in which he threw for four touchdowns and added a 67-yard TD run.
That was also amid serious injury concerns around Ewers. However, Ewers is expected to miss only the next couple of weeks and is all but sure to re-assume his starting role in the Lone Star state before Texas begins to play meaningful and competitive games.
But, Manning will certainly have the chance to impress once again this week in yet another cupcake matchup for the Longhorns. Texas is a 44.5-point favorite entering Manning's first start at the college level.
Odds movement
Manning's Heisman Trophy odds moved quickly on Saturday night.
Per John Ewing of BetMGM, his odds were +10000 before the game against UTSA.
Following his 67-yard touchdown run, those odds had dropped to +2000. They dropped to +1500 by the end of the game. They rose only slightly to +1600 as of Sunday morning.

Manning added a rushing touchdown in each of the two games in which he's appeared. Saturday's rushing score came on a 67-yard scamper on his third play of the game (after already throwing for a touchdown).
Manning's 67 yards on that one run brought his collegiate total to 383 more yards. That's more than his two legendary uncles combined for during their college careers.

I placed a bet on Manning to win the Heisman at +6000 odds via DraftKings immediately after his first touchdown pass on Saturday. I have no interest in these shortened odds.
These odds are set to protect the sportsbooks against liability. While the popularity of his name would play in his favor with the Heisman being decided by a media vote, we need to know he has control of the starting job in Texas.
We don't have anything to lose by holding off and waiting for more information. Texas will play UL Monroe and Mississippi State - both at home - before the aforementioned matchups against Oklahoma and Georgia.
Those will be the true litmus tests for Texas and whoever its starting QB may be.
