this is random, but have you guys noticed at newport everyone is double faulting like crazy. Ball had 7, Dent had 9, Bozoljac already has 14, both Phau and Brown had 14, Devvarman/Kim had 7 each. it's just weird

I don't think it's weird. I think there are a lot of young/fringe players ... the youngsters especially who are just trying to hit the crap out of the ball and win cheap points.

I didn't realise the numbers were that bad but I had noticed there were a lot flying around.

It's funny - during half time of the WC match I was looking at the notes I took last year on this tournament just to see how I did money-wise and if there were any little quirky things about Newport that stood out. I had typed in caps: "Shari, you do not like this tournament. It is where decent players go to die. Bet at your own risk in the future."

I think I may continue to focus more on the women in this one and leave the men up to you guys. If I see something good, I'll tail but these matches have been shocking. Maybe I'm just spoiled after Wimbledon and I'll adjust back to normality but so far it's been the pits.

The tournaments that happen the week after Slam events are always ones that you should proceed with caution with. The fields are often full of guys/gals you may not know enough about - but as tennis bettors, we feel the urge to continue on especially if you did well at the Slam. Newport always seems to have one or two B-list guys headlining like Querrey and Fish and then whomever wants a paycheck fills out the rest. Used to be cool because Fabrice Santoro played this shit every year. That dude was awesome.

My main tennis book doesn't have some of the lines up yet but so far my plays are:

Schnyder +150

Malek +4.5 -105

I also like Arn and will play her once the line goes up here. Haven't looked at the men yet.

I haven't been watching, only checking out the scoreboard every now and then. I've been getting too frustrated watching some of these matches the past 2 days so I decided to watch a World Cup preview show instead.

At least the handicap is looking better now.

I put her in a parlay but wouldn't feel comfortable telling you to take her in straights as she often starts slow.
