      WASHINGTON ATP FUTURES

      Quarter #1:
Berdych is the highest seed in this quarter that also features Isner, Gasquet and some other interesting floaters. Isner & Berdych are pretty much set for a QF meeting here. Gasquet has to travel and make the quick turn to hard courts, so even in good form I would not expect him to make a deep run here. Both Isner & Berdych have done well here in the past and Isner's lone win over Berdy came here in 2009. Isner +1400.

Quarter #2: Verdasco is the seed here. This seems to be a wide open quarter with Llodra, Baghdatis, Blake & Gulbis. I honestly have no clue who will come out of this quarter which I think makes Berdych or Isner a much stronger play.

Quarter #3: Querrey, Cilic, Fish & Hewitt. Solid quarter here. Fish has always been bad here and you have to wonder about the ankle still. Querrey gets a bye, so fatigue may not be a big angle here. Tough to pick one of the four seeds here to get through as they all have different things to deal with. I'd kill Querrey first though as he had to struggle through LA and might be fine with exiting early here. Fish +1400 or Hewitt +2000.

Quarter #4: If Roddick fails to make the QFs here, he probably is destined for a poor US Open series as he has a great set-up with Becker or Simon as the competition. Top portion of the quarter is Wawrinka and Stepanek. Also the weird floater, Nalbandian. Wawrinka & Stepanek have both not played in some time, so this really would be Roddick's quarter. Roddick +300.

      RODDICK +300
      ISNER +1400

Special note here that the #1 or #2 seed has won the Legg Mason in 5 of the last 6 years. That's Berdych or Roddick here. Roddick has won this sucker thrice.

The ram/Fat Dave match looks like I might take a shot at the over.Rams serve is always good on hard courts, and once again with FD"s fitness, never know.Could see a 19.5-20 line..

I like Luckas Lacko here and maybe marchenko, not sure where rainers head might be after the collapse out west. And nishikori could be a complete wildcard in this thing..

Roddick and Isner are both in the finals in my bracket. I think Nalby, Hewitt and Baggy will be solid here. At least one of these 3 will advance to the semi's in my opinion.

                Great info. Thanks.
I am hoping to catch a match or two of the Legg Mason. Bad weather today, thunderstorms.

                  CHALLENGER PLAY

                  ZAMPIERI -125
He draws American Brendan Evans on a clay court in Brazil. Evans hasn't played on clay since May 2009 and is making the quick turn-around from hard courts last week. Zampieri is pretty experienced at the Challenger level on dirt this season with modest success. This is obviously a surface Evans doesn't want to play on, so I am not sure why he is even at this tournament. Trying the home standing Brazilian on the surface he prefers.

Isner's problem might be the heat, he often has problems with it - although it's not as extreme here as Atlanta, and he seems to be improving in that regard.

CHALLENGER PARLAY: ROCHUS + UNGUR [+104]
Rochus drops down to Challenger level this week after playing at the Umag event in Croatia last week. Smart move for him in not having to make a surface switch. Rochus draws the Italian, Di Mauro, who has lost in the first round in 3 of the last 4 Challenger clay events he's entered. Rochus won their only previous clay encounter which came last summer at the Challenger level. Rochus has been decent on dirt in 2010 and has played stiffer competition most of the year than Di Mauro, expect that to make a difference. Rochus has also played on these courts before, going 1-1 in San Marino last year. I'm willing to forgive Ungur for losing in the 1st round last week at Cordenons to De La Nava who made the final. Ungur has been in solid form on the Challenger level prior to that hiccup with 7 straight quarterfinal or better appearances on clay. The early exit may have given him a chance to recharge his batteries a little since he had been playing almost every week and going fairly deep into tournaments. He draws Jorge Aguilar. He scored an upset of top seeded Carlos Berlocq in that Cordenons event, but then fell flat in his next match. For 2010, Aguilar has had a pretty non-descript season on dirt. He's defintely capable, but Ungur is in better form of late and has beaten him already this season on clay and owns a 2-0 lifetime mark vs. Aguilar.

Definitely considered that. Liked that he had success here though in 2 of the 3 times he's played the Legg Mason. The forecast doesn't call for overbearing heat with average humidity and actually looks like the weekend would shape up to be the "coolest" around 90 compared to maybe mid 90s mid-week. He's got the draw where I think his first match will be tougher than his second with de Bakker likely looming. The good thing for him there is de Bakker likes to boom his serve in and Isner can be content with conserving energy and playing for the tie break like he tends to do. Always dangerous, but he seems to get away with it. Will be an interesting week.

My mistake on this play too. Shit. Misread. Brazil is hard court. Crap. That's what I get for looking down a list of Challenger events and the surface types and looking at the one below.

Feel fortunate if you missed out on this one because that's a super bone job by me. Evans should have a good chance to win.

Yep. Only break point he put out there when it was 5-6. Getting killed in the 3rd. Looks like a loss on the parlay.

                                                            PARLAY: LINDSTEDT-TECAU + SCHUETTLER [+145]
The doubles tandem of Lindstedt & Tecau is still a bit new, but since they paired up back in April they have won three tiles [two clay/one grass] and made the Wimbledon doubles final. Last week in LA was their first pairing on hard courts and they went 1-1, losing to the duo who lost the final in a super breaker. They face Baghdatis-Wawrinka, one of those hastily thrown together teams. Baggy has played exactly two doubles matches this season & Wawrinka is 1-5 in doubles matches in 2010. Baghdatis and Wawrinka both likely will be using this as a chance to get acclimated to the surface, especially the Swiss who has not played since Wimbledon. Also consider that Lindstedt has won the doubles title at the Legg Mason two-years-running with different partners, bidding for a third with another different partner. Schuettler draws Marchenko to open his Legg Mason experience. The German has shown some decent form on hard courts in the past two weeks, probably deserving better than losing to Querrey in the QFs in LA last week. Marchenko has been whipped in his last two losses on hard courts by Anderson and Malisse. As a whole, Marchenko has had troubles doing much on this surface at the ATP level in main draws. Schuettler also has the experience of playing on this court last year.

He draws Bogdanovic in the Vancouver Challenger. Both guys did pretty well here last year with Cook working through qualis to the QFs and Bogdanovic to the semis. Bogdanovic also made the QFs the year before that. Still, in 2010, Cook is the better form player on this surface. Bogdanovic is just 2-5 at outdoor hard court Challengers. Cook is 9-4 and has made the QFs or better in all five of the outdoor hard court Challenger events he has entered in 2010. Both guys lost in qualis in LA last week. This is their 1st career meeting.
