Got Ivanovic tonight, also pending Rochus and Dodig.
Yes, Gulbis is fantastic, but the most frustrating player in the world.Comment -

Got some nice early 3.4 (+240) on Chardy for tomorrow - it probably loses but great price.Comment -

#3052Yeah I hate Chardy. Last year he was a nice up & comer who cashed some good prices late in the year. I thought he had Top 25 potential this year, but he has regressed and burned me repeatedly this year. Was not impressed with his 1st set against Nieminen yesterday, although Almagro was just as shaky. Good luck with that one, I try to avoid his matches when I can just out of personal taste.Comment -

#3053Hey Ep,i was thinking about putting up a weekly thread for the challengers with some analysis on the past history of each one,fav winning %,avg seeding, dog win %..just some general info for folks to use in making decisions.of course we could analyze the draws and just general bullshit about all the stiffs...Like Kevin Paycheck..Comment -

pays +180.......i dont know anything about doubles....just taking a shot for a unit....u think it has a shot?...bryan/bryan better win they were like -510...but just adding them to the parley the value of the parley shot up from +134 to +180Comment -

#3055Always a shot, but I think one of the three will lose. I'm real surprised the Moodie-Norman line is so low - makes me wonder although I have them on my list of possibilities for tomorrow. If it was any other tournament than their "home town" tourney, I'd say the Bryans would choke. They might get tested though, but they have pretty much owned this tourney - think they've won it five times and the next doubles titles they win sets the all-time record, would bet they really want it to be in LA.Comment -

#3056Ill ad a challenger play for the Am...Conor Niland..who is rising up the rankings and is the #2 seed in the Saransk Challenger. He is +140 playing a home boy in Kuznetsov. Looks like the reason that the russian is favored is that he has a stellar 31-12 record on clay..but that comes in the ITF Futures tour.Big step up here vs a much more talented player. And I might add that the russian is only 7-7 in Challenger clay matches.Niland is nothing special in that he is 10-20 in career clay matches but has played better as of late on the dirt going 3-2 in his last 5..age vs youth..Comment -

#3057Good luck on that one, but Kuznetsov has been on a roll in the past two weeks. Hard to go against him right now.
Gstaad is supposed to be clear tomorrow. Still some rain forecast in Croatia, hopefully it holds off.Comment -

#3059Holding Querrey as a future to win in LA, so I obviously liked him in this portion of the draw. Thought his first match would be his toughest. Schuettler is really inconsistent on hard courts, so hard to say what he'll do here. He could give Querrey a good match, but I think Querrey is here to defend his title. I think it's hilarious how high the line is though compared to the Anderson match just because Anderson was the "flavor of the week." Anderson and Schuettler are practically ranked the same and Anderson hadn't done anything much this year before his mini-run in Atlanta.Comment -

#3065ALMAGRO-CHARDY OVER 22 [-125]
Both guys were sloppy in their 2nd round wins and Almagro especially has had service issues this week with nine double faults in his opening 3 set win followed up by being broken 5 times in yesterday's 3 set win. Chardy was broken twice in the opening set against Nieminen and appeared destined to drop that set before Nieminen imploded himself. With the inconsistencies of both this week, this could turn into a topsy-turvy three set affair. Both also possess a serve that can be tough to break WHEN it is working. I'm usually never right with Chardy involved wagers, so keep that in mind!Comment -

#3067Heh. I knew Youzhny would choke in this tournament and didn't think to play him to lose. I thought pre-Gstaad that whomever wins between Montanes & Gasquet was going to be in the final. See if that pans out, but they certainly have a good track now with Schulkin to face next.Last edited by EaglesPhan36; 07-30-10, 08:44 AM.Comment -

#3074PARLAY: MELZER + STARACE [+134]
All four players involved in these two matches will be on-court for the 2nd time today after rain halted play in Croatia yesterday. Melzer draws Seppi, a meeting we saw just last week in Hamburg. Melzer blitzed Seppi, 6-4, 6-2 and beat him similarly on a hard surface in February. Hard to see Seppi finding an answer for Melzer here. Melzer has more pop all-around. Fatigue shouldn't be big for either. Seppi on court for just 80 minutes, Melzer even better at 45 this morning. Starace is simply a pick against age. He draws Ljubicic who spent two and a half hours struggling against Dodiq. Starace cruised in an hour to a straight sets win over Phau. I think Old Man River is going to have a difficult time trying to get back out on court for a 2nd time today seeing as this morning's match was his first in a while and now he's being asked to go again in a short turn-around. So long as Starace serves well and gets that 1st ball in at a high rate, I like him to move on.Comment -

#3075Blows another break lead. It's just a matter of time before Almagro puts this bitch away. I'd be surprised if it even gets to a tie break with the way Chardy is playing. I'm done with anything related to this doosh. I think I've said that before, but I'll be adding it to my signature to make sure I remember.

#3080Tough to call. If you liked Montanes, the boat is gone on getting the best price as he's been bought down a little. Toyed with taking the over at 22.5. I think this one is going to go 3. Montanes has not been great this week. Gasquet has been solid, but this is an obvious step up in competition.Comment
