Figured I would just follow my original thoughts when this tournament started and make those plays as the guys I liked to make runs in this tournament have done well so far. That means Dolgopolov -125 over Troicki here in a little bit. I know Blake was shit, so a little risky, but Troicki's form on hard courts this season has been mediocre at best. Dolgopolov has played pretty well this summer and this could be his shot to get his name out there more-so than to just us junkies.Comment -
Dolgopolov fades in the 2nd set tie break and crashes out totally in the 3rd, 2-6. Could not convert a break point for anything. Had 4 cracks at breaking Troicki back in the 3rd but could not. Oh well, more losses, yeeeeah boy!Comment -

PARLAY: DE BAKKER + ISTOMIN [+117]
de Bakker draws Korolev today. Korolev to me just doesn't look the part of someone who should be at this stage of a hard court tournament. His serve isn't particularly dominant and in winning in straights yesterday, he tallied just one point more than his opponent. de Bakker has been a little uneven in needing three sets to win both his matches here. However, his serve continues to be a valuable weapon and one that I think gives him an edge again today. Istomin draws Gabashvili. Gabashvili falls into a good fade pattern here as he scored less points than his opponent yesterday in winning. Istomin, like de Bakker, has brought a big serve to work in New Haven this week. He had a shaky middle set against Lacko yesterday, but dominated the other two in winning in 3. KIRILENKO-SAFINA OVER 21.5 [-125]
The Russian vs. Russian female formula here. Not 100% full-proof, but often times the Russians play these epic rollercoaster matches where the momentum swings from one side to the other on a dime. Kirilenko again has played five full matches against Russianettes this year and all five have gone three sets. She had been dominant in four of the five sets she's played this week with the one off set being against fellow-Russian, Vesnina. Safina has battled tough this week with a 3 set win over Schiavone where she dominated the last two sets and then played two tight ones against Hantuchova yesterday. Safina's serve is still the main issue here. She'll need to be more solid to keep this competitive throughout. I think Kirilenko has played better this week and might win here, but for this wager's purposes, let's go 3.Comment -

I only see he got broke four times, still not great. He's offered 23 break opps though in his last two which is asking for trouble compared to just 8 for de Bakker. My thoughts going into this tournament were that this was de Bakker's best shot at going deep in a hard court tourney. Think he should earn at least a semifinal birth today, I hope!Comment -

US OPEN QUALIFYING: ILHAN -120
Quite a match in qualifying with two solid youngsters, Ilhan & Tomic from Australia. Edge to Ilhan here as Tomic still has not played much on hard courts outside of his home country whereas Ilhan does have some more experience there. Ilhan played a few matches on hard courts this summer and has had more main level ATP experience on this surface. Tomic has the talent, winning a hard court Challenger in Australia in February and he played another Challenger in May on the surface. Still, he is more raw I think while Ilhan has been through the qualifying process at the US Open in 2009 and should have more familiarity with the courts here.
