Apple consumers have been on edge for a solid 6 months about the next iPhone since they're, for the first time, ready to buy a different smartphone if the next iPhone doesn't improve both its design and functionality dramatically.

I own a material amount of AAPL and know all the news, forecasts, earnings calls, etc. but understand when a stock and brand are approaching a critical point.

4" screen, LTE, iOS 6, slightly improved cpu/gpu combo, 1gb ram.

This is the best that Iphone 5 can be.

2 reasons to buy apple, IMO.

1) Because you are an apple fanboy
2) For the resale value on the open market. Great resale value, can turn around pay for the top Android with the money, and buy a nice steak dinner with the rest.

Not a real reason to buy the iPhone

1) It is the most technologically superior phone on the market. <--- that is ridiculous.

There is a real threat that the apple fandom is at critical mass. People will still buy, but I think the people leaving apple for a competitor is now equal if not more than people leaving a competitor to go to apple.

Not necessarily the best it can be, but those are likely to be the specs in the end unfortunately.

Bottom line, Jobs wouldn't have allowed this product to be released without major design & functionality changes - and no, a 0.5" increase in screen size wouldn't have been anywhere close to enough.

That being said, still holding out hope that most of these leaks are false (like many times in the past).

i still have a 3gs without contract which is -EV since my monthly service is basically paying for a new phone (though i dont pay my own bill)....didnt buy a 4s because it wasnt close to the best phone on the market

guys whats the best phone? i was looking at the nokia windows phone but apps seem to be lacking

If you are in America, and don't want an Apple, Samsung galaxy phones are the best (even better than Apple - especially rooted and turned into a free mobile hotspot).

If you are overseas, look around - I would especially look at the HTC products.

Put that bitch on craigslist, and you will get much more money than you need for a new to newer, better phone.

Trust me. Everytime I get a new contract, I have gotten the iPhone at the discounted price, sold it for full price on the open market, and bought the better Samsung or HTC with the funds, and still had money left over. The 4 will still bring in a decent amount of cash.

This may be the sentiment in some other survey, but of the 10 people I know off the top of my head who use the Iphone 4 or 4s, they are all pretty much locked in for life.

Galaxy holds their own. A lot of other phones are quickly made old with the new stuff every fall.

I currently have the galaxy 2, there isn't another phone - no galaxy - that even can touch the 2. Fully rooted of course. PC based phones have the ability to turn into a super phone by cracking it wide open. Amazing potential. Gotta remove the "governor"

Galaxy 3 will be the best android phone, until they make a galaxy 4. Never been into the droids - I loathe Motorola more than apple.
