When a computer first starts up there is usually a "splash" screen which instructs you to "press "x" key to enter one time boot menu" or "press "x" key to enter system BIOS"Originally posted by seaborneq
Either one will work.
If you get into your one time boot menu simply select your DVD/CD drive as the boot device.
If you get into your BIOS change the boot order for the devices -> DVD/CD device to the top of the list.
One thing you have to ensure is that you are creating a BOOTABLE DISC when you make the OPH crack CD. If it is not bootable nothing will happen. You can create a bootable disc by using either IMGBURN or ULTRAISO.Comment -

You would want to install a new OS regardless of whether you have the account password or not. You bought it therefore it should be yours, your BIOS, your OS and your everything else. You have to download the program and burn it to a disc. Then the disc is suppose to hash it for you and give you the password. I've used this and it works. Only thing is, I'm not sure if OPH works for Vista or Win7 yet. Works great on XP.Comment -
