If you know of little known movies that you think are really good, please post them.

During the last couple weeks I unexpectedly ran across three movies I had never heard but turned out be great:

    Varsity Blues http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varsity_Blues_%28film%29

This is one of the best sports movies I've seen. It's really realistic and enlightening about sports and American life.

    Alone in the Dark http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alone_i...281982_film%29

This movie is a realistic version of the classic "Halloween". It's obvious that was the intention because Donald Pleasence plays exactly the same role he played in Halloween. The difference is that the killers in the movie are shown as being more human rather than complete monsters. Jack Palance and Martin Landau are two of the maniacs and I'd watch any movie with Donald Pleasence, Jack Palance, and Martin Landau but this movie was thought-provoking and shocking especially when you compare it the story of "Halloween" because when that story is told in a realistic way it's a million times more frightening because you realize that those events aren't that far-fetched.

    Little Murders http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Murders

This is a movie for thinkers. It's full of insight about the world we live in, the people all around us, and the problems in society. I think it was way ahead of its time.

                        Band of Brothers

Not a 'movie' but it's a 10 hour WW2 made for TV with all the episodes leading into each other. I've been surprised at how many people haven't heard of it.

The Jericho Mile: A loner with a life sentence in prison spends all of his time running. Turns out, he's one of the fastest men on the planet. He gets the opportunity to try out for the Olympics. This movie might be hard to find.

Happiness: This movie follows three sisters with three very different lives. Without getting into too much detail... this movie is extremely dark and disturbing and yet hilarious at the same time.

Waking Life: If you like movies for thinkers... I think you'll like this movie. It's about Lucid Dreaming as well as various philosophical ideas.

Slacker: Not to be confused with the movie Slackers. Slacker is an incredibly unique movie that is hard to describe. But it's similar to Waking Life in that it talks about strange ideas and philosophies. It was done by the same guy in fact... Richard Linklater.

Coupe DeVille: Three brothers that hardly know each other drive a car from Michigan to Florida where their parents live. They don't exactly get along perfectly on their way there but they do get to know each other which was their Father's intent. This movie might be hard to find.

A Midnight Clear: American soldiers are followed near the end of WW2. They encounter some German soldiers whom they soon figure out dislike Hitler as much as they do. How they deal with these soldiers is a big part of the movie. This movie has an all star cast but very few people have ever heard of it for some reason.

Tell No One: French so you have to read subs, but very good thriller/mystery.
Spy Game: R Redford and B. Pitt so this one is that is very mainstream but maybe not well know. CIA/Spook thing.
Sneakers: R Redford again in another spy movie but very different.
