You probably overlooked the contents of this PM while studying the next thread to revive. The message was sent several hours prior to that.

#41Welp I'm also a threadbumper of ancient threads so here's my two cents. Betplom and I have been doing it here for years, it has nothing to do with him being unbanned and trying to be disruptive to trash the forum or test the mod's mettle. I'm not as familiar with the history of Archie bumps but I imagine he does it for the same reason. Stuff we think is funny or relevant gets sent top the top.Comment -

my PM's are disabled
but what was the thread or threads that I bumped that you thought disrupted the forum? I think this would be a good discussion to help prevent it from happening to other posters...
by the way I appreciate someone stepping up and "putting their name on it"

#48Archie, you expect to have the same clout as you did when you were sentenced to hard time? You're old guard pal, a has-been, washed up, failed poster sent to the minor leagues, you aided and abetted the enemy. Either step in line or assert your power (obviously with a different screen name)...

#50You can still read them when an admin messages you.
If everyone freely bumped threads that's ever made them laugh, there would be no current topics in Players Talk.
98% of posters never get put on Post Review for bumping ancient threads. Those that make it routine are usually sent a friendly note.Comment -

#52Arch, I don't use my daily allotment of allowable thread starts so if you want you can have mine to bump in lieu of.Comment -

so 2% of posters would overwhelm the forum with bumping? and there would be no current topics? I think you underestimate the attention span, posting per hr avg, and interests of your posters.
again, my bumps were relevant to current topics so that explanation doesn't really hold weight anyways.Comment -

#55What's the problem with bumping threads? Classic threads are infinitely more entertaining/informative than the garbage threads the likes of resident fucktards Sammy, Broke Landers, ttwarrior, etc. regularly start.Comment -

I might bump on average 5 old threads a week. Rather inconsequential to disrupting the flow. I could understand if someone bumps 50 threads in half an hour.Comment -

#62No bumping old threads because we need quality threads like these to stay on the first page as long as possible:

#66Bumping old threads can be embarrassing to some more than merely disruptive. Like if say someone were to call Haitians vile smelling creatures or something that could make the poster that posted something like look bad.
Arch, more racism, more air bets and less disrupting. ok.
and don't misquote people Wal, it wasn't vile smelling...

If you can not find anything interesting I would suggest trying back later. Everyone is welcome to go back and visit the old threads if they are super bored. But no reason to give them the smiley face bump.Comment
