I stopped drinking Cokes for a week and was able to fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly.
Caffeine has more impact than you would think.

I am an RPSGT. Which is registered in sleep. I have watched people sleep for 20yrs. Sound to me like restless legs. I have patients that kick their legs 200x`s an hour during sleep. I would try an iron supplement. And eat banana`s to boost potassium. The fisrt 3-4 hrs are the deepest part of sleep for everyone. Then light and dream sleep til normal wake up time. And leg mvmnts are worse during light sleep.

Melatonin never did anything for me by itself. But Alteril works GREAT. You can buy it at Walmart right by the Tylenol PM and other sleep aids. It's Melatonin, Tryptophan, and Valerian. It is all natural with no drug hangover and you will sleep well.

I tried Ambien and it works. It knocks me out within 15min but it requires prescription.

Wow, that's nice to know. I really do appreciate the knowledge here.

your not overtraining. I think a piece that is missing in this thread unless I missed it is what is your daily routine? I sleep an average of 4 hours a night with college going on and during the summer I get 8-10 hours easily. And I work out on a regular basis

I love it. Getting ready to take two now and go to sleep in half an hour. I work nights and don't need to get to sleep early. But I love the deep sleep and detailed dreams it gives me. And I wake up refreshed after 7-8 hours.

Hey J, I agree that it sounds like over-training especially if your HR is high after hydrating. I'd honestly take one week off. Overtraining is serious bizness. Your body needs time to rest and heal. Just doing "normal" workouts when you need rest can prolong the problem. Also, if Ambien works for you, it's super easy to get a script for. Just go see your doc and let him know you're having problems staying asleep and in the past Ambien worked well. Once you get the script all you have to do is have your pharmacy request a refill so you wont have to keep going back to the doc. GOod luck buddy

You train too hard at the gym that's why you can't sleep and don't eat syntetical stuff they sell you at the gym you'll sleep better. After training eat some real food.

Alteril is great. You stay in a prolonged deep sleep and so you have long dreams. It's like a movie every night while you get refreshed. Great product. You sleeping better every night now?

I run less than that, but eat well and hydrate well and still had trouble sleeping.

Benadryl is probably the best if you must take a pill to sleep. Do not touch any of the benzos (xanax, kolonopin, etc) they are BAD drugs that can become addictive!

Benadryl, Tylenol PM, and all drug sleeping pills suck. They help you sleep, but it's artificial sleep. You wake up groggy and feel tired and hungover. I've tried everything, and Alteril is the only product that puts you to sleep and leaves you feeling great all day. They ought to put me on commission, because I've referred a lot of people to the product.

Take calcium magnesium supplement. Or better yet 2 magnesium 250mg 1 hour before you go to bed. But be careful, magnesium will make you bowls a bit soft..But that is not a bad thing..

if you want natural supplement then you can try melatonin like mentioned. cheap and available OTC. something that works very well id say better which was also mentioned is benadryl(diphenhydramine OTC) buy a bottle of 60 for a few bucks, take 1 45 mins before you want to sleep, and it will more than likely work like a charm. that will give you a more deep sleep though, and will probably make you groggy in the morning if your not getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep. I am a pharmacist BTW

I tried Melatonin in the past, both liquid and pills and still nothing.
Tylenol PM and other drugs around that nature really gets me drowsy when I wake up.
