I hate these lists...what good do they do? Remind people in poverty of how bad they have it? Are they suppose to remind the middle class that, "hey, I just read yahoo's top ten most dangerous cities...guess I better not move to Oakland...gee willikers...it's dangerous there...Thank you yahoo." If anything, hopefully communities will see these lists, as well as all Americans, and be inspired to try and make a change. The only way these communities are going to get better is if everyday citizens do whatever is within their means and time to make their surrounding neighborhoods better.

I think they only include cities over a certain size.

Crime in so bad in Benton Harbor, Michigan that the police only arrest drunk drivers if they cause an accident. Otherwise you're free to go. They have to prioritize enforcement because the crime rate outpaces the available resources. Has to be one of the worst cities in the US.

I live in New Haven ... The mayor has ruined it by catering to illegal immigrants (mexicans) but what really has ruined it is the *ghetto people* killing eachother over nothing, 20$ or less, one kid was shot because he drank from somebodys bottle at a party I believe last year the murder rate doubled and this year is on pace to double last year. There are many educated people and a decent number of nice areas but the stupidity and murders are destroying the city. Need to get out of here after college...
