Look at these states: Texas, Arizona, North Carolina, Florida, Georgia. You get more for your money there. Do you want to raise kids in some small walk in closet in New York or do you want to have a yard and grass to mow in Charlotte while still having a city to drive to when you want?
Places to avoid? Detroit, Oakland, DC, New Orleans, Philly, New Jersey.
