Well the one guy answered the question about the pants referring to it as having the goods. That makes sense and think it was a fashion statement then as well. I remember saying rap videos with the guru from gangstar with it up but don't think he was slangin drugs on the set. I wonder if anyone wearing tags and holograms on their hat ever bothered questioning their friend or themself, why do I leave these tags and holograms on my hat?

I think its to show how new the item is or how in great condition it is. You may see some African Americans wearing hats that are well-worn, but those people more than likely do not dress anywhere simmilar to the African Americans who leave the holograms on their hats. Those people like to have new items and treat their clothes/ accessories very carefully so that if they wear it again it appears close to new.

Tags and holograms garner respect in the african american urban culture.

This fashion statement really annoys me. Like RobmPink included, I am not racist as well. I dress casual to what makes me feel good and I rarely follow any fashion trends that are "in".

Everywhere I go, I see wiggers and african-american walk around the outlets and malls with a Ball Cap along with the Hologram and a long ass shirt, dark blue jeans with one leg sleeved rolled up to the knee and a bandana tied around that leg finishing it up with tan Lugz shoes.
What the **** does that mean?

I just want to know who started those trends. Take me to the fuking leader for Q & A.

because someone saw someone else who they thought was cooler than them wearing it accidentally like this and then copied their look.

                              1. swagg

mostly known as style, unique part of what makes you different than the other players in a cool way. the way you carry yourself(confidence), your gear(clothes), and anythin else that is pimpin!
i see ya lookin, feelin my swagg.

So the hologram and tag are more unique vs the hat? So many people have the flipping holograms and tags on that maybe it would be swagg now to take them off.
well put its just straight up Swagg for the ladys

I got a new hat and was just trying it on, I ended up wearing it around all day with the sticker on. I did not realize it until I got home. Oops.

This is a very good question.
                                  My kind of question.

I remember people would drive a new car around for weeks or months with the window sticker still on.

Still i want to know what the attraction for grape 'drink' is all about.

I don't think many brothers on this forum, as I try to imagine a group of black urban youth huddled around the outside of a housing project's entrance tossing around sentences like, "Yo, so I be mad flipping wif Tony at 5dime Y'all...dude gotta pay a brutha wif a pay table dat be whack.".

And, "Hey Reggie, what you be thinkin of usin regression analysis wif a variance model fo hoops?"

                                  ******* classic shit I write :-)

I thought the sweat pants leg thing was an L.L. Cool J fad years ago

Regarding the pricing of the hats.....$20-$35 is alot to a 15-24 year old African American kid...do you know how many tips from Sonic or overtime at McDonald's that costs them??

The hat logo and sticker was a NYC thing that took off. Started in BK and spread through the rest of the boroughs. Lo-Life crew were the first. LL started the one sweatpant leg roll up. No idea why it made it around country.

There are a decent amount of brothas on the board, but since I'm suited for work you aren't catching me in a New Era or rolled up sweats. Bottom line brothas start trends. Whites cop it.

I think the tag on the hat thing is far less offensive than the proliferation of Uggs, the Justin Beiber Flow haircut, or the wearing of a replica sports jersey by men over the age of 18.

Status symbol that shows they could either afford or were able to steal a 25 to 35 dollar hat. Like the sticker on cars but on a smaller scale.

The "one pant leg up" thing is for people who ride bikes so their pants do not get caught in the chain. The people who do it for fashion are stupid.

The stickers on the hat are for normal people to recognize that you are trashy and should be avoided.
