I need 4 grand soon. Discover card sold my account and now i will be sued soon and appear in local court with my name in the paper, etc.

People keep saying there is no debtors prison, but where i live if you don't pay after being sued, unless you file for bankrupcty, they treat it exactly the same as child support. Jail time!!!!!

I expect to be in jail by the end of june. I may try something drastic since a 2 or 3 dollar parlay is not working for me, plus with no stars or tilt, no chance of getting lucky in a poker tourney.

The fvcking whoore from this debt place calls the house once a day. I answer and say he no longer lives here. I give cell phone number and listen to the voice mail everyday.

I have until friday suppovely before i get summoned by the sheriffs office to appear in court.

i won't file for bankrupcty for 4 or 5 grand. I believe its more than that with fees added. I would settle if this place would but i don't have a dime to my name. zilch.

Got 30 bucks in my wallett. a everio camcorder worth around 300. 50 at bookmaker and trophies and clothes. That's it.

Ya, it's HARD to do. You can be 80% on those for years and never win...if you want to parlay, take moderately priced home team and a decent road dog. hedge your bets...start small...get a bank roll going...I think patience will be your best friend for a while. 4-5 game parlays are tough.

warrior oh warrior. are you going to start this again...i don't like you but you are not going to jail for cc fraud..they couldn't afford to feed you there...the last debtors prison was abolished in 1805. yes 206 years ago...a collection agency would have to sell it to a debt collection lawyer. they don't take people to court...they won't even have your original application...actually if they violate certain conditions you will be awarded 1000.00 such as calling off hours, threatening, etc...collection agency's sell these to collection attorneys in 100 lots for .06 on the dollar...the collection attorneys don't want to pay the 40.00 to sue you so they will accept payments. probably a minimum of 25.00 a month. end of story...if you can't pay that a judge will declare you indigent...no civil judgement jail...even in kentucky...

Because people want to keep high credit scores to get loans and such for things like houses, cars, etc. Some people give a damn about things like this.

TT, there are several things that you need to do. First, you need to know your rights. Second, you need to stop living in fear. Answer your cell phone, explain your situation, and tell them that you are desperately looking for a job. As others have stated, collection agents get paid when you pay and will say anything and everything in order to get money. If you can't pay, they will package your account with others and will sell it to some other collection agency. Collecting on debts is like prospecting. You buy a package of accounts, you exhaust them, and then you sell them and get some more.

Also, you need to realize that the times have changed and given the recent economic woes that the country has experienced, millions of Americans have defaulted on their loans. Collection agencies, banks, and other interest groups are not going to sue you unless you are worth something. Suing people in this sense...is part of a business. You don't sue unless there's profit to be made.

I just want to reiterate that you should keep the lines of communication open...you have nothing to lose by being upfront. At the same time, you need to figure out a long term solution for yourself. You really need to figure out a way to become economically independent, which means taking care of yourself before your relatives. It's not being selfish and it's what they should want for you. I strongly recommend that you don't gamble or even view gambling and poker freerolls as a means of solving your problems.

You can not go to jail for not paying an unsecured CC debt. You're dumber and more of a drama queen than I ever imagined.

Here's the thing genius. Discover Card would have to get a judgement against you in civil court after you already defaulted on the card. The only recourse they have is seize your assets, or force a Sheriff's sale of your acquired property. If you had a job, they could also garnish your wages.

I know this is a odd concept for you, but there are actually Americans who protect their credit score, and try to manage their credit effectively. Those types of people probably are a foreign concept to you.

You work in 30 minute blocks, when you want, taking orders on the phone for the Home Shopping Network, Pizza Hut, etc... The money is good and you can work as much or as little as you like. If you really wanted a job and had no clue how to get one, you would've started a thread asking us if we had any ideas about work at home jobs. You would've received several great answers within 10 minutes, amongst the joking ones.

All you do is piss and moan and hope for someone to rescue you. "If only I were a Pro...", "If only someone staked me in my Fantasy Leagues." "Oh no, I had money in a book and I blew it in the casino yet again"

You need to take some responsibility for your life and start showing some initiative. If you have time to play tennis, basketball, play online poker, enter contests, pick fantasy league teams and hang out on SBR constantly, you have time to find yourself a bloody job to get yourself out of this mess.
