#316Once in a while when that happens to me, I just stick with the first bet made. I mean, it's all a 50-50 crap-shoot, right? Half the time you're pissed you didn't wait, the other you're happy you made the bet!Comment -

#318I didn't play ""Smokin' Dave Cokin" today, because his pick conflicted with Bryan Leonard. Glad I missed it.Originally posted by theplayaDamn this Dave cokin is killing me. 3 straight wins already
But I presume you got in on the early MLB game? Poor Joe gave me the Rangers, and a free e-mail pick I get every day gave me the OVER 8 in the same game. Cha-Ching!
On the other hand, this Scott Spreitzer fade is giving me a coronary. 12th inning now in the Royals/White Sox game!Comment -

#325Exactly. These are proven losing cappers. Thanks to bill52, we have around 5 months of data from them posting their daily free pick. It's not like we've chosen cappers that are on a winning/losing streak right now. This is based on 5 months of tracking! We KNOW that we're going to win.

#3269-4-1 tonight (push on Braves/Brewers OVER 9). Up about 5 units. Lost a couple of 2-unit bets, and one 3-unit bet, but that leaves room to make money tomorrow.

#3276-3-1 for me ... Cokin got me too. I plan to get him back tomorrow though. Tailing Crusher bases and hoops and faded the rest, Ben Lee Eckstein is a money fade....guy loves big chalk and it .500 at best over time and Brandon Lang came through yet again with another loser for me to fade on ATL. Had a few conflicting reports that I scratched as a result... the total in the A's/jays game and Sac/SA scratched as well.
Winner-winner and could have been a better night, but I'll take it!
Thanks again for the thread and advice guys!Comment -

#335Guys I was thinking of doing a stop loss at 4 games. Than with that labby loss say 250 and spread that amount evenly thru the other cappers to recoup the loss. What u think?Comment -

#337I have a safety stop at 3, and I don't have a labby line for each picker...I just lump them all together. That way I'm allowing pickers who happen to get on a little hot streak to be covered the next day by any other picker. It's easier, and I think it all evens out in the end, and accomplishes what you are suggesting by "spreading the loss".Originally posted by theplayaGuys I was thinking of doing a stop loss at 4 games. Think of it this way: You really aren't fading individual handicappers...you're fading a GROUP of handicappers. 'Zat make sense?Comment -

#338Well guys, remember what AE said that he does. When he has a big winning day, he clears out all the labby lines and resets them. Yes, you might be leaving money on the table, but if you're dealing with a capper that is on a winning streak, then this could save you some losses as well. One of my cappers is on a 3-game winning streak, which does suck, but oh well, it's only time before he crashes and burns and goes back to his losing ways.Comment -

#341Just for an example, let's say you are making 3 bets a day. If you were making a spreadsheet for this, your left column would be Capper #1, Capper #2, and Capper #3. Your next three columns hold your bets (Bet #1, Bet#2, and Bet#3).
Day one your cappers are Cokin, Wiz, and Wynn. Your fade on Cokin loses, but you win your fades on Wiz and Wynn.
Day two you might be playing Arthur Ralph, Wiz, and Wynn. Just plug them into the next days spots for Capper #1, Capper #2, and Capper #3. Wiz and Wynn don't even have to be playing off their previous day's performance. You might have them in this order: Wynn, Ralph, Wiz.
In other words, since I'm not concentrating on any INDIVIDUALS, the only thing important to me is the GROUP. I don't have a labby line for EACH capper. I only have enough lines for as many plays as I might play in any given day, and I let the cappers fall into whatever position they happen to. This way, if Cokin has a play that conflicts Wiz (therefore canceling them both out), I simply put Wynn into Cokin's space and somebody else into Wiz's place for that day.
For ME, this is easier, and I believe is just as effective. As a GROUP your fades should average more than 50% over any given week, even if you have 1 or 2 cappers hit a lucky streak.
Hope this clarifies, BOL!Comment -

#342This is the very reason why we play so many different cappers. And there's nothing wrong whatsoever with dividing any losses amongst all your labby lines. I personally set my loss-limit at 3 losses. If a capper goes on a 3-game winning streak, then I do reset that line and divide the losses among all the rest of my lines. Since I average about 7-8 bets a day, I can spread out the losses.Originally posted by pvrmackAs a GROUP your fades should average more than 50% over any given week, even if you have 1 or 2 cappers hit a lucky streak.
But even with doing that, my cappers are still sucking so bad. My first week doing this, I went 7-2! 78%. My 2nd week, I went 24-12. 67%. Last week, I went 30-16. 65%. This week has been slow for me. 15-14 for me so far, which is 52%. I know it's recover. Monday and Tuesday were small losing days, and yesterday was a winning day, and hopefully today will be a very nice winning day.
