#39I thought mormons were polygamists. they all have at least 8 wives. isn't that against their silly code. that religion is as phony as the muslim one with that idiotic koran book which i burn daily if i come across one. everyone in colorado city, utah has at least 3 wives and don't try to stop there even for gas as they will not let you in.Comment -

The high ups in the school don't follow the code but demand that the students do.

#52Why TF would anyone play a sport attending BYU
I respect their set of rules/ways
But why would anyone football/basketball player etc go there?
You cant have sex unless your married
You cant even have a coke or regular coffee or tea
Among other things
Unless you plan on becoming a monk or have been neutered why attend this school to play sports instead of any other?
They are tanking now because a vital player of their team had sex and he's getting punished,
making them a 2nd round exit at tourney at best.

#58again if anyone read, actually READ my first post, they would see I am not criticizing and respect their core values and beliefs, even though I do not agree with some of them.
But if youre gonna break the code and have sex, go play somewhere else since you will not adhere to the rules given
Thanks for american history lesson I know you can chose to go there or even worship the devil in public, thats not the point, its the sentence above. If your gonna "sin" why not go to another U?
I am sure there are other schools that offer the same value if not better education, its not like they have a limited choice.Comment -

#59having sex with your GF and drinking green tea(filled with antioxidants and many other goodies) means you don't have morals and values?
I think the point OP is trying to make here is why would you attend a school that limits your freedom. You can attend or sign a letter of intent with many other schools where you can still practice a healthy lifestyle without having big brother over your head. The only reason I would attend BYU as an athlete over another school if they were literally the only D-1 school to offer me a scholarship. And something were missing here is the fact that the school is centered around the Mormon religion, which is a just a more insane version of Christianity. It's no wonder they have such ridiculous rules.Comment -

#61Some people are raised with those values so to attend a school limiting those specific aspects of their life would not be affected...
And as far as playing sports there.. Its all about opportunity... would you rather ride the bench somewhere else or get a lot of playing time?
When they go there they know the rules. If they get caught breaking them that's their own problem. Gotta love snitchesComment -
